‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot Reshot Only One Scene In The Movie While Pregnant

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot reportedly reshot only one scene in the blockbuster movie despite being pregnant through much of the filming.

Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman took everyone by storm, debuting with an impressive $223 million worldwide. The box-office hit is a major break for Gal Gadot who wowed fans with her portrayal of the iconic superhero Wonder Woman, also known as Diana Prince.

Recently, Jenkins dished on some interesting details about filming Wonder Woman, particularly a minor tweak that she added after wrapping up the production in November 2015. Apparently, Gal Gadot had to reshot a single scene with Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) to “ramp up the tension.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins revealed the one scene that Gal Gadot reshot in Wonder Woman. Originally, the scene was shot with Diana (Gal Gadot) walking with Steve (Chris Pine) toward the World War I frontlines, as she prepares herself for her destined showdown with the Greek god of war, Ares.

However, upon viewing the finished cut in London, Jenkins felt like there was something missing.

“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it. hat scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.”

Jenkins clarified that they did not make any major changes that would’ve affected the plot. In fact, she revealed that the scene has been originally in the script and just basically added it back to Wonder Woman.

“We replaced that one scene with a reshot scene, and we didn’t change the order of a single scene. So what you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making.”

Interestingly, reports revealed that Gal Gadot was pregnant during the reshoots. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 32-year-old Israeli actress was five months pregnant when she returned to London’s Leavesden Studios to shoot the additional scene for Wonder Woman.

During the said shoot, the team had to use CGI effects to keep the actress’ baby bump off the screen. The costume department reportedly had to cut a section of Gal Gadot’s costume and replace it with green cloth so her baby bump could be altered post production. The actress even joked about the shoot, claiming that she looked “very funny.”

“On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman. On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jenkins expressed her admiration to Gal Gadot’s “tireless work ethic.” The director recalled how the actress performed difficult parts in the scenes despite being pregnant.

“She’s pregnant during part of the movie, in a suit out in a field in the freezing cold in others. There are so many things we asked her to do: Now do it on one foot. Now shout while you’re doing it. Now it’s raining in the freezing cold and you’ve lost your voice, go. Everyday it was a hilarious gauntlet and she would do it.”

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman‘s producer Chuck Roven also commended Gal Gadot for being “aggressive” in the fight scenes despite being limited from doing strenuous activities.

“She couldn’t do a huge amount of physical activity but she was being aggressive. She still had to be fierce. That was special. I’ve been doing this for awhile but I’ve never that had that experience before.”

Wonder Woman set an impressive reign with a whopping $103.1 million at the domestic box office. Fans are now anticipating a sequel of the movie, pushing for Gal Gadot to be back on the big screen soon.
