Shane McMahon Announces Huge Match For ‘Money In The Bank’ To Happen For The First Time Ever

One of the most anticipated WWE pay-per-view events of the year is Money in the Bank, and this year, there is even more of a reason to look forward to the PPV. Last week on SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon announced the participants for the MITB Ladder Match, and fans were thrilled with those listed for it. However, Shane-O wasn’t done with the huge announcements, and he revealed a match will take place for the first time ever at the PPV next month.

It is no surprise that the women’s division on SmackDown Live and Monday Night Raw has really received a new focus over the last couple of years. Some of the greatest superstars to ever set foot in the division are currently on the roster, and their talents will be put to the test at Money in the Bank.

Yes, there will be two MITB Ladder Matches at the big event next month, and one will be a traditional version with the men fighting for a WWE Championship shot. The other will be the first of its kind as Shane McMahon stated it will be the first time in history that women will have an MITB Ladder Match of their own.

As recapped by the official website of the WWE, there was a huge Five-Way Elimination Match last night on SmackDown Live. Carmella, Tamina Snuka, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Natalya competed for a shot at being the No. 1 contender to Naomi’s Women’s Title.

After only a few minutes, the match got completely out of hand — and as a matter of fact, it never even really started. The five women brawled in and out of the ring, and it all ended with Charlotte powerbombing Natalya through the announce table at ringside.

That is when Shane McMahon entered the ring and realized that the women of Team Blue needed to continue this battle. He officially announced the first-ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match for next month, and the winner will receive a shot at the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship.

The winner of the match will take possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase, which will give them a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship. They can cash in their shot at any moment they see fit in the hope of capturing the coveted title.

The current card for WWE Money In The Bank is as follows.

  • WWE Championship: Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton
  • Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin
  • Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Carmella vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Tamina Snuka vs. Natalya
  • SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. The New Day

Earlier in the evening on Tuesday, fans received another great surprise: Kofi Kingston returned and The New Day made their debut for Team Blue. They are looking to make an immediate impact as they have challenged The Usos for the tag team titles and will attempt to capture them on June 18.

Money in the Bank was already shaping up to be a fantastic PPV with the incredible men’s Ladder Match that was made last week. Throw on top of that the WWE Championship rematch and things were looking pretty good. The addition of the Tag Title Match with the returning New Day made things even better, but Shane McMahon wasn’t done. The first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match will be historic, and anything is bound to happen in just a few short weeks.
