Is Meghan Markle having doubts about marrying Prince Harry? Several reports suggest that the Suits actress has developed cold feet about embarking on the next stage of their relationship, though there has been no official engagement.

A history of abuse in the media

Since news broke that Meghan Markle was dating Prince Harry, the tabloids have not been kind to her. The couple has tried their best to keep their relationship as low key as possible, but given the global fixation on Prince Harry’s private life, their efforts have been in vain.

Things got so volatile at one point that Prince Harry had to have Kensington Palace issue an official statement on his behalf, asking the media to refrain from harassing her.

“The past week has seen a line crossed,” reads the Kensington Palace statement. “His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national [British] newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.

The statement added later, “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”

Meghan Markle’s future as an actress

However, Meghan’s hesitance to marry Prince Harry reportedly stems from her career aspirations—not tabloid speculation—according to Radar Online. An insider told the publication that Meghan Markle is hesitant to trade in her Hollywood career for royal duties, especially as new opportunities fall into her lap. Meghan has reportedly caught the eye of Hollywood heavyweights, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels, who want to put her in their movies.

Apparently, Markle feels that she will have to give up her life as an actress if she goes through with marrying Prince Harry.

“Meghan knows there’s no going back once the engagement’s announced so to have these incredible scripts land on her plate has really upset the apple cart,” the insider said.

“She’s worked for all her life trying to succeed as an actress and getting these plum roles offered to her has unsettled things.”

This same insider alleges that Meghan Markle is also intimidated by the Royal Family’s lifestyle.

“Meghan’s very intimidated by Harry’s world and the responsibility she’ll have,” the insider added.

If this report is to be believed, then it would seem that Meghan has reason to be hesitant.

Is an engagement near?

That said, a report by Hollywood Life suggests that wedding bells between Prince Harry and Meghan are not even yet on the horizon.

“Meghan and Harry are extremely happy and wildly in love, but there’s no talk about marriage and babies, at least not yet,” an insider told Hollywood Life.

“It would seem likely to be in the cards in the future, but they have no desire to rush into things. Just like with his older brother, William, Harry wants to be 100 percent sure before entering into wedlock.”

The source added that Prince Harry’s upbringing has influenced his decision to take things slow with Meghan.

“Coming from divorced parents himself, Harry is adamant that when he marries, he will marry forever—plus, of course, there’s his status to consider,” the source said.

“Harry is very conscious of his position in the royal family, he takes his duties very seriously, and he has no desire to cause any type of scandal, so he’s not going to rush into anything—they haven’t even been dating for a full year yet!”
