Watch Cleveland Cavaliers Vs. Boston Celtics Game 5 Live Stream: Start Time, Cavs Look To End Celtics Season

The Boston Celtics could see their best season in six years come to a crashing end on Thursday when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game Five of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The showdown will live stream from TD Garden in Boston as the Celtics face the longest odds of any home playoff team in 20 years, according to Las Vegas bookmakers.

According to the online service, Oddsshark, the Celtics enter Game Five not only with their backs to the wall, trailing the series by a 3-1 deficit, but also as a 10-point underdog in the Vegas betting lines. This is the first time in two decades that an NBA playoff team has headed into a home game as double-digit underdogs.

The defending NBA Champion Cavaliers started the best-of-seven series in dominating fashion. Playing on top-seeded Boston’s home court, LeBron James and his supporting cast slapped down the Celtics by 13 points in Game One, followed by a crushing 44-point beatdown in the second game.

But the Celtics, playing without injured superstar and team scoring leader Isaiah Thomas, stormed into Cleveland for Game Three and stunned a strangely lethargic Cleveland team, 111-108. But despite falling behind by 10 points at the half in the next game, the Cavaliers came back to grab the commanding 3-1 series lead with a 112-99 victory, led by 25-year-old point guard Kyrie Irving, who reeled off 19 points in a five-minute span in the third quarter on his way to a stunning 42-point outburst.

A win for Cleveland would give James his seventh straight trip to the NBA Finals, going back to the 2010-2011 season when he was a member of the Miami Heat and the third straight with Cleveland.

The Celtics regular season win total of 53 was their best since the 2010-2011 season when they won 56 but lost in the second round of the playoffs that season in five games to none other than James and the Miami Heat. But the following year, 2011-2012, was the last time the Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals before now, after a 39-27 record in the lockout-shortened season. But Boston was kept out of the NBA Finals by the James-led Heat once again, losing the Conference Finals in the full seven games.

Can the Boston Celtics shock the basketball world and survive to force a Game Six in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals despite going into Game Five missing their star Isaiah Thomas and nursing other injured key players? Or will the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James put the finishing touches on the Celtics’ surprisingly strong season, advancing to their third straight NBA Finals with a win on Boston’s home court?
