Four Kittens Found In Freezer At Florida Home

St. Petersburg, FL – A man was arrested after allegedly keeping four kittens locked away inside his freezer, according to UPI.

Rodney J. Blanchard had a friend over for a visit when he asked the guest to retrieve a cold beer from the freezer. Instead of a perfectly chilled alcoholic beverage, the woman discovered the 39-year-old man was keeping four living kittens on ice.

When the woman attempted to rescue the tiny animals from certain death, Blanchard became agitated and threw his guest out of the house. Instead of sitting idly by while this man abused a handful of defenseless kittens, the woman phoned the police.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, deputies could hear the poor creatures meowing as they approached the freezer. All of the kittens were reportedly kept in individual sandwich bags. Sadly, one of the kittens didn’t survive the ordeal.

The other kittens were taken to a local veterinary clinic for treatment. All of the animals were cold, shaking, and covered with fleas by the time authorities arrived on the scene. The cats have since been turned over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

As a result of his cruel and unusual treatment of the kittens, Blanchard has been charged with four counts of felony cruelty to animals and one count of misdemeanor battery.

Interestingly, this isn’t the only time police had to pay a visit to the Blanchard home in the past few days. Authorities were reportedly called to the Sunshine Mobile Home Park after two of the alleged kitten abuser’s roommates were arrested during a shooting involving a rumored love triangle.

Francis James Bahr and Damian William Blanchard were both taken into police custody after allegedly shooting a man and woman in the torso. Both victims are said to be in serious condition.
