Frankie Muniz Stroke: ‘Malcom In The Middle’ Star Recovering From Mini Stroke

Former Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz is recovering after suffering what he called a “mini stroke.”

E!Online reports the 26-year-old actor and musician was hospitalized on Friday and spent the weekend recuperating from the cerebrovascular accident.

Muniz announced the news to his fans on Tuesday, December 4 in a tweet which read:

“I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a ‘Mini Stroke,’ which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!”

According to Medical News Today, a mini-stroke, or transient ischemic attack (TIA) occurs when there is a temporary drop in the blood supply to the brain, depriving it of essential oxygen.

The patient experiences stroke-like symptoms, although they normally only last a few minutes and disappear within a day, MNT notes.

While Muniz has yet to reveal any further details on the stroke, sources told TMZ that prior to the incident, his friends noticed him “acting really weird.” They said that he had trouble speaking and comprehending what they were saying.

Though Frankie is scheduled to begin touring with his band Kingsfoil on Friday, doctors have apparently requested the Malcolm in the Middle star take things easy until test results revealing the cause of the stroke arrive.

Besides his seven-year run on Malcom in the Middle, Muniz is also known for his staring roles in My Dog Skip (2000), Big Fat Liar (2002), and Agent Cody Banks (2003). He recently appeared on Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing and played himself on ABC’s Don’t Trust The B— in Apt. 23.
