‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 7 Spoilers: Lana Parrilla Has Questions About Regina In ‘OUAT’ Reboot

Once Upon A Time Season 7 will still have Lana Parrilla, despite many of the other stars walking away from the fairy tale drama. Many fans have questions after it was announced that Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Rebecca Mader, and Jared Gilmore were leaving. It turns out that some of the actors have questions themselves. Recently, Parrilla discussed the reboot and Regina Mills’ happy ending.

Possible OUAT spoilers might be ahead. If you are not caught up with the ABC TV show and don’t want to know what to expect next, then stop reading.

In a Q&A video posted on Gold Derby, Lana Parrilla discussed Once Upon A Time Season 7. She will miss working with the actors that portray Emma Swan, Snow, Charming, Wicked Witch, and young Henry. However, she is also excited about the next chapter for the series. In the Season 6 finale, Henry was seen all grown up, played by Andrew J. West. Fans may recognize him as the cannibalistic Terminus leader, Gareth, of The Walking Dead.

“I am excited to see what the next chapter is for Regina and who this new Henry is. If he’s older, does that mean I’m aging? I don’t know!”

The OUAT actress admitted that a lot isn’t known about Season 7. In her interview, she talked about how showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have blended the different realms together. The unpredictability is one of the things that keeps fans watching.

However, in the upcoming season, many of the main characters will be gone. The ones that remain will either be grown up, like Henry, or will have new identities in a different location. Parrilla was asked if there are any Disney characters that have not appeared in Once Upon A Time that she would like to see on the show. Lana revealed she is rooting for a Star Wars twist. She would even enjoy Indiana Jones making an appearance.

“I think we should somehow incorporate Star Wars. I think that, you know, Adam and Eddy are huge Star Wars fans and if there was a way to bring Darth Vader in, then that would be cool. I think he would be a better love interest for the Evil Queen, but now that she’s taken, but it would be fun to battle him.”

Since the show began, Regina has gone through a lot of changes. Out of all the characters, she is the one that has evolved the most. In the pilot episode, she was perceived as a bitter, angry woman and a bit of a villain. Then, it was revealed that her alter ego was the Evil Queen. At one point during the series, she even battled herself and Parrilla admitted that playing two characters and having to do battle scenes fighting her other half was tricky. However, she still loves how the writers have explained Regina and turned her from a bad girl to someone that fans want to see happy.

“She is by far the most complicated character I’ve ever had to portray. I love that I never know what she’s going to do next. I love that she’s constantly searching to be a better human being, for herself and others.”

It will be interesting to see what Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have planned for Regina in Once Upon A Time Season 7. The showrunners teased a few details to TV Guide. It will focus on Henry and his daughter, Lucy. It was also teased that Lucy’s parents had an “epic” love story, just like Henry’s grandparents, Snow and Charming. Even though many of the characters from Storybrooke will be gone, all of the actors agreed to appear in one episode during Season 7. Besides Regina, some regulars will still be around, including Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Rumple (Robert Carlyle).

Horowitz made it clear that the new season will not be a rewritten version of Emma and Henry’s story. Even though it is being called a OUAT reboot, it is really a different angle and will have its own unique story.

“The parallel you saw at the end of [the finale] was intentional, but the storytelling is going to be a piece of what we’ve done all along, but it’s going to be different. We’re not going to be telling the exact same story that we did Season 1 and just switching it to adult Henry.”

Many fans are wondering if the question of how Henry aged will be addressed in Season 7. The showrunners promised that it will be answered immediately with the new paradigm. Regarding if Henry will be different as an adult, Edward Kitsis revealed that somewhere along the way, he stopped believing. That is where the new season will pick up.

For fans that don’t want to watch OUAT without Emma, Snow, and Charming, the showrunners explained why viewers should stick around.

“It’s still the same show. We’ve done lots of shifts and resets in previous seasons. This one may feel a little more tumultuous at first, but in our mind, the spirit and the feeling of Once Upon a Time remains and that’s what we’re going to endeavor to continue to do.”

As for those who have not tuned in to previous seasons, the reboot allows new viewers to watch and understand, even if they are behind or have never seen the show. At the same time, loyal fans will be rewarded with new adventures that incorporate six years of backstories.
