Scoot McNairy Tapped To Join Robert Pattinson And Guy Pearce In ‘The Rover,’ Michael Fassbender In ‘Frank’
After having one of the busiest 2012’s in Hollywood, Scoot (John) McNairy is about to get a lot busier.
The 32-year-old Texan has added two new projects to his 2013 slate.
Following his breakout performance in 2007’s In Search of a Midnight Kiss, 2010’s Monsters, and big roles in KillingThem Softly and Argo (both 2012), McNairy is currently shooting airplane thriller Non-Stop with Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.
Shortly after wrapping on Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land, the actor was recently cast in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave which also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender.
But back to those two new films.
The first is The Rover. Helmed by Australian filmmaker David Michod (Animal Kingdom), the film co-stars Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
The movie’s premise has been described by Pattinson as “incredibly violent,” a longhand version follows here:
Set in the Australian desert, the futuristic western tells the story of Eric (Pearce), who has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him, as he’s forced to join an injured gang member, Rey (Pattinson), to hunt down Rey’s gang after they steal the last of Eric’s possessions.
McNairy has also been tapped to star alongside Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson in the upcoming music indie Frank. Based on the life of musician/comedian Chris Sievey, Lenny Abrahamson is set to direct.
Both new titles have attracted a lot of interest already. But McNairy’s inclusion will add to the favorable buzz, which can only be a good thing.
