Child Abuse Charges Against Oklahoma Grandmother: Horrific Punishments

Child abuse charges have been filed for an Oklahoma grandmother, who’s granddaughter endured horrific punishments, according to the New York Daily News.

Geneva Robinson, 51, has been accused of abusing her seven-year-old granddaughter, and plead guilty on Thursday to the child abuse charges.

The grandmother first took her granddaughter to the hospital in September 2014. When they arrived, the little girl was noticed with bruising and numerous burns. Further, she appeared to be malnourished. The girl also had cuts on her wrists and ankles, alleging that she has been bound in some way.

The little girl admitted to a hospital worker that her grandmother would often wear a green mask and pretend to be a witch in order to scare her. Also, the girl said that her grandmother would sometimes tie up her wrists before she went to bed at night when she was “in trouble.”

Oklahoma City Police Department Master Sergeant Gary Knight revealed that enough evidence was present at the scene to charge the grandmother.

“The evidence at the scene corroborated what she was saying. There were whips and chains and a witch’s hat found there. Just a completely horrible situation for a child to be in.”

According to AOL, a six-year-old child is also named as being a part of the child abuse case. The woman allegedly told hospital workers that she could no longer control her granddaughter anymore.

Further, AOL revealed that the girl’s cuts on her wrists and ankles were badly infected. The girl told police that the witch’s name was “Nelda,” and she would sometimes make her sleep in the garage on a pair of pants while being bound at her wrists.

She said that “Nelda” would hang her in the garage with a pink leash under her arms, and told her that “the creatures in the attic were going to come get her.”

AOL did reveal the list of Robinson’s abuse against the little girl. She was accused of pulling on the girl with pliers, causing a fracture to her pubic bone by kicking her very hard, and was accused of causing several injuries by scratching and striking the girl.

Further, the grandmother has been accused of cutting off the little girl’s hair while she slept, and refused to give her food to the point that the girl would “steal it” in order to eat.

The girl suffered from ringworm, therefore the grandmother is being charged for withholding medical care while she had obvious signs of the infection.

The little girl often missed school because the grandmother would not allow her to go, and she was sometimes forced to sleep outside with the dogs. In addition to the child abuse against the little girl, another unnamed six-year-old child had also allegedly been a victim to the woman’s repulsive crimes. The younger child was said to have suffered injury after Robinson used scissors to cause injury to the child’s finger.

Joshua Granger, a man of unknown relations to Robinson or the children, told reporters that Robinson was innocent, and further mentioned that the girl was very troubled. While details were not released, Granger had also plead guilty to child abuse charges. Prosecutors stated that Granger would play along with Robinson’s “witch” persona, and sometimes beat the two young children.

Robinson is scheduled for a sentence hearing on March 28. It has not been revealed when Granger’s sentence hearing is scheduled for. The Inquisitr will update this story once more information becomes available.

According to Justia, Oklahoma does not currently have much of a punishment for those who commit child abuse. It reveals that a parent or person who “willfully or maliciously engage in child abuse shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections not exceeding life imprisonment, or by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one (1) year, or by a fine of not less than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) nor more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or both such fine and imprisonment.”

Let’s hope that Robinson and Granger receives a maximum sentence, and that the two young children who endured so much pain and suffering, find peace and justice.
