Jennifer Lawrence: ‘In Hollywood, I’m Obese,’ Says ‘The Hunger Games’ Actress

Jennifer Lawrence opened up about body image in the December 2012 issue of Elle magazine, according to RadarOnline. The 22-year-old actress told the magazine, “In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress.”

Lawrence, who became an international superstar after playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, also said, “I’m Val Kilmer in that one picture on the beach.”

Lawrence said she is comfortable in her own skin and has no intention of starving herself for the sake of her career.

“I eat like a caveman,” she said. “I’ll be the only actress who doesn’t have anorexia rumors. I’m never going to starve myself for a part. I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can’t happen. I’m invincible.”

Lawrence said she doesn’t want to be a bad role model for her young female fans. She said:

“I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner.’ That’s something that I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong, not thin and underfed.”

Lawrence also told the magazine that she isn’t one to bite her tongue. She said:

“I never know what’s going to come out of my mouth, and it’s horrible. I don’t find it positive in any way. When I get older, I’ll be more mature and poised. And I’ll have control over my mouth.”

The actress hasn’t let her newfound fame get to her head. She admitted that she is still living in her parents’ condo and thinks it would be “very bizarre” to live in a big mansion by herself.

Do you think Jennifer Lawrence is fat, or is this just another example of Hollywood trying to pigeonhole actresses into a certain body type and weight?
