WWE News: NXT Women’s Wrestler Making Main Roster Debut At ‘Raw’ Event

As seen on the WWE Breaking Ground special, the dream of every competitor in NXT and at the WWE Performance Center is to have that meeting where they are being told that a main roster call-up is the next move for their career. For someone like Tyler Breeze, he went through many different stages in his career before the “Prince Pretty” character stuck. Not only did he finally develop a gimmick that worked, but he became one of the most popular wrestlers for the NXT brand. While he was never able to capture the NXT Championship, he did manage to have some memorable feuds and compete against the legendary Jushin “Thunder” Liger.

Baron Corbin is another person that was waiting patiently for a main roster debut. While his character performed very strongly on NXT, his tenure proved that he was dedicated to the brand but ready to be on Raw or SmackDown. Not only did Corbin make an impression in his main roster debut, but he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. Corbin would then climb up throughout the year to now become a co-No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship, and he will be competing against AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown Live.

In the Women’s division, Bayley made her long-overdue main roster debut, and she immediately made an impression. Since her debut, she has defeated the current Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte on multiple occasions, including this past episode of Raw. From the looks of it, Bayley will now be the No. 1 contender for the championship, and a title reign may be coming soon.

Recently, WWE has been promoting a Holiday Tour for the duration of the year. On December 28, the Raw brand will be competing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. One of the matches scheduled is an eight-woman tag match, pitting Charlotte, Dana Brooke, Emmalina, and Nia Jax against Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alicia Fox, and NXT Women’s competitor Liv Morgan.

Not only does this match indicate that Emmalina will be competing as a heel, but this will also be the main roster debut for Liv Morgan.

The 22-year-old Liv Morgan has been an NXT mainstay since starting with the brand in 2014. Morgan has not had a very strong presence, but her Jersey pride character has gained support from the NXT fans as people have rallied behind her during her recent feud against Billie Kay and Peyton Royce.

Morgan told WWE how grateful she is to be under the WWE umbrella.

“To have made it here is completely humbling and beyond anything I could have imagined. I wake up every day excited to learn. I grew up a huge wrestling fan. My mom was a single parent raising six kids, and she worked very hard to provide whatever she could for us. We didn’t have fancy material items, but we had cable, which meant we had WWE broadcasting multiple times a week. That completely took over our lives. I fell in love with it the first moment I watched.”

A main roster call-up may be a bit too premature for Morgan at this point because she still has some development to do, and the NXT brand gives her a great platform to perfect her craft. With it being a house show, her appearance may be for the purposes of testing the waters to see if she has a good enough reaction. If she does, a main roster call-up would likely be inevitable.

Hopefully, WWE will put Morgan in a position to succeed on the main roster and allow her charm to continue to win over the live crowds, as well as the people watching at home.
