WWE News: ‘WrestleMania 33’ Match Winner Favorites Include ‘Raw’ Stars Braun Strowman, Big Cass, And Rusev
It may seem early to consider WWE WrestleMania 33 matches, but each year plenty of fans and wrestling analysts try to guess the card months in advance of it taking place. This latest Mania season is no different, as the card is beginning to take shape with the upcoming pay-per-views. Just recently, a website published the latest odds for one of the matches that has become an annual tradition at Mania, with some of the “biggest” stars in the WWE currently among favorites to win it. Could Braun Strowman, Big Cass, or Rusev go home with a nice trophy for their participation at WWE’s WrestleMania 33?
The three aforementioned stars will all be in matches at Sunday’s Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view, which is a WWE Raw-exclusive event. According to Philly.com, in one of the Roadblock matches, Sami Zayn will take on the monstrous Braun Strowman and must last 10 minutes in the ring with him to win. Many fans and writers are predicting Zayn will prove his worth to Mick Foley by lasting the 10 minutes. So most likely, Strowman will walk away without looking too bad in a “loss” during the pay-per-view. WWE has built him up as an unstoppable force ever since he was placed on the Raw roster apart from the rest of the Wyatt family.
The WWE may give Strowman an award for his recent destructive work in the ring, which has included laying waste to James Ellsworth, Zayn, and a good number of jobbers who will only be remembered through brutal highlight clips. According to WWE Leaks, Strowman is the top favorite to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy based on odds put out for the match. The trophy is given to the winner of a big WrestleMania battle royal and has been touted as a major prize by previous winners including Cesaro and most recently Baron Corbin. While the match and its participants haven’t even been announced by WWE yet, Strowman leads all contenders at 2 to 1 odds.
Right behind Strowman on the list of favorites are three other superstars from WWE Raw. Big Cass is second on the list with odds of 5 to 1, while Big E and Rusev are each at 8 to 1 odds. Cass and Rusev are set to battle in a match on Sunday as Cass tries to avenge the beatdown Rusev gave his tag team partner Enzo for showing up at Lana’s hotel room on Raw.
Following those favorites are Baron Corbin, Big Show, and Cesaro, all of whom carry 10 to 1 odds to win. These are the three winners of the annual battle royal so far. It seems unlikely WWE will give the trophy to one of these superstars again, particularly because the trophy seems part of WWE’s way to push various stars. In addition to that, there’s already a Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal match being set up for Mania, while Cesaro could be a tag team champion at Mania based on speculation that he and Sheamus will win the titles off New Day.
All of that said, Braun Strowman seems to make the most sense to win the Battle Royal, but he’s also been named in the WWE rumor mill for other matches. There have been WWE rumors of Strowman challenging Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, possibly for the United States Championship. Months ago, there was also talk of Strowman taking on The Undertaker, and just recently a Strowman vs. Taker dream match was teased in a video, as reported in WWE rumors by the Inquisitr. However, it seems that WWE may have different plans for Taker’s big match at Mania.
Nonetheless, Braun has been built up quite a bit and one has to wonder if the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy will be his prize for a long season of hard work in the ring. Then again, WWE may decide to throw James Ellsworth into the mix and have him one-up Braun once again like he did at the 2016 Survivor Series.
