Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, The Blonde Bombshell With Nine Husbands, Is Dead At 99 Following Heart Attack [Video]
The mood in Hollywood has turned somber on Sunday, following the news that Hungarian actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor has passed away. The blonde bombshell, known for her envelope-pushing antics and often-emulated accent, was 99-years-old – Zsa Zsa Gabor would have celebrated her 100th birthday on February 6. While the news of the Zsa Zsa’s death is just breaking, TMZ is reporting that she died from a heart attack.
Reportedly, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor suffered a heart attack on Sunday and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, when she made it to the medical facility, doctors were able to do nothing more than pronounce her dead on arrival, confirms Publicist Ed Lozzi.
In the years prior to her death, Zsa Zsa had suffered from numerous health problems and become wheelchair bound. Her most recent and final husband, Frederic Prinz Von Anhalt, is reported to have thrown birthday bashes for the aging actress in recent years. However, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s health had failed so badly that she hadn’t made appearances at the last few celebrations.
Reportedly, Ms. Gabor would remain in her bedroom during the celebrations and guests were not allowed to cross the threshold.
Over the course of her distinguished and memorable career, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor racked up almost 80 acting roles on the big and small screens. However, she was such an icon of her day that most of her roles were Zsa Zsa playing herself. While she has shied away from the camera in recent decades, in her heyday, she was akin to Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian.
In fact, one of Zsa Zsa Gabor’s biggest claims to fame was her lavish, socialite lifestyle and string of husbands, which she began to collect at the age of 20. As BBC reports, Zsa Zsa was almost 70-years-old when she married for the ninth and final time. Since that marriage to Frederic Prinz Von Anhalt, the aging socialite has suffered from declining health and has been seen in public less frequently in the years leading up to her death. Reportedly, Gabor had been dependent upon life support systems for survival in her final five years.

Von Anhalt, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s final husband, was many years her junior, just 73-years-old at the time of her death. As Variety reports, many of Gabor’s later years were tainted by public discord between herself and her husband (and herself and her daughter).
In her earlier life, Zsa Zsa Gabor was better known for her envelope-pushing antics and spotlight-stealing behavior. Much like today’s celebrity socialites (largely famous for being famous), Gabor kept herself in the public eye. In 1989, she made headlines for slapping a California police officer. She also often limited her quips and quotes to snippets about her jewels, her numerous ex-husbands and the scandalous details of her nine marriages.
“I am a marvelous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house.”
A glamorous life. RIP.

Her nine husbands included the Conrad Hilton, the grandfather of modern socialite Paris Hilton. Check out the marital history of Zsa Zsa Gabor.

- Conrad Hilton (April 10, 1942 – 1947; divorced)
- George Sanders (April 2, 1949 – April 2, 1954; divorced)
- Herbert Hutner (November 5, 1962 – March 3, 1966; divorced)

Zsa Zsa Gabor will likely be immortalized most memorably by her over-the-top manner of speaking and thick Hungarian accent. Gabor famously called everyone “dah-link,” a habit shared by her equally-blonde sister Eva Gabor (of Green Acres fame).
Gabor was born in Hungary to Jewish parents and earned the prestigious title of Miss Hungary in 1936. She emigrated to Hollywood in 1941 due to the social climate put forth by WWII, and immediately found a foothold in the acting business. Zsa Zza Gabor scored her first “big” role as a supporting actress in Lovely to Look At, and her career exploded from there. Later, Gabor went on to star in Moulin Rouge,“where she was reported “given a hard time” about the thickness of her Hungarian accent.

All in all, though, that accent would go on to become Zsa Zsa Gabor’s trademark.
The later life of Zsa Zsa Gabor was fraught will ill-health and headline-grabbing personal drama. Even so, as Daily Mail reports that earlier in 2016, her husband announced to the world that she had plans to live past 100 and beyond. This despite refusing to undergo what was referred to as a “potentially lifesaving surgery” around the time of her 99th birthday. Gabor was also rumored to have lost a large portion of her fortune, millions of dollars, to disgraced and imprisoned financial swindler Bernie Madoff.
Zsa Zsa was proceeded in death by her parents, numerous ex-husbands, older sister Magda and younger sister Eva and even her own daughter, Francesca Hilton. Francesca was born during the marriage of Zsa Zsa Gabor and Conrad Hilton, but it became common knowledge that Conrad did not acknowledge the child, believing that Francesca wasn’t his daughter. He reportedly left the Zsa Zsa’s daughter just $100,000 in his will, and she passed away penniless on January 6, 2015.
Reportedly, the strife between Francesca and Zsa Zsa Gabor’s last husband was so profound that he had allegedly kept the mother-daughter pair apart for years, and it has been widely speculated that Zsa Zsa never even knew of her only daughter’s passing.
While Hollywood and the world mourns the passing of Zsa Zsa Gabor at the age of 99 (just shy of the 100th birthday milestone she vowed to meet and surpass), she is survived by only her husband.
