NFL Sees First ‘Nutcracker Dude’ Touchdown Dance

Rob Gronkowski scored two touchdowns yesterday to help the New England Patriots defeat the St. Louis Rams 45 to 7, but more importantly, he gave the NFL its first “Nutcracker Dude” touchdown dance.

After his first touchdown, Gronkowski started marching back and forth in the end zone with short, choppy movements. No one really knew what he was doing. After the game, Tom Brady said:

“I don’t know what the hell he was doing [on] that first one. Yeah, he needs some work on that.”

It turns out that Gronkowski was imitating that nutcracker dude that stands outside of Buckingham Palace. Some people refer to that little guy as a member of the British Royal Guard, but you know, nutcracker dude works too.

Gronkowski said:

“That little nutcracker dude that’s guarding the house … I like how he just sits there and stays still. It’s pretty cool.”

The Patriots played in front of a London crowd yesterday at Wembley Stadium and Gronkowski obviously wanted to give the fans a touchdown dance they could appreciate. You have to hand it to Gronk for adding some local flavor to his end zone celebration although London fans may have not been amused by his nutcracker comments.

Here’s a video of Gronkowski’s touchdown dance.
