‘Gotham City Sirens’: Megan Fox Already Researching DC Comics’ Poison Ivy Movie Character? [Rumors]

Gotham City Sirens, an all female villain DC movie announced just recently, has a follow-up rumor regarding Megan Fox possibly studying up on a role. Bleeding Cool writer Rich Johnston had revealed that he has been shown “hard evidence” that the TMNT starlet Megan Fox had been ordering “very specific” comics online. Namely that of the pre-52 variety of Harley Quinn comics that feature specifically Poison Ivy.

She had Harley Quinn No.’s 14, 17, and 38 delivered to her at the Warner Bros. lot with the previous two issues focusing in mainly on Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s earlier combined appearances, according to Batman-News. The latter, No. 38, features her relationship with the GCPD.

Margot Robbie is the only female actress announced to be reprising her role in the Gotham City Sirens movie as Harley Quinn, but the other two DC Comics character are unknown.

Fox Clarified Geek Credibility

Megan Fox has starred in quite a few geek culture themed movies such as the Transformers franchise and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She has also been involved in the DC Comics projects of Jonah Hex and had voiced Lois Lane in the Robot Chicken: DC Comics Special. So Megan isn’t a stranger to the DC franchise. What are the chances she could pull off a Poison Ivy in the Gotham City Sirens movie?

In 2010 during an interview with MTV News, Megan Fox clarified upon her geek credibility. She mentioned that even though that some hardcore geeks have a “Rolodex” of information regarding the intricate details of the comics world, she claimed not to be quite at that level. She does acknowledge that she has enough fandom towards such a pop culture category. Fox also claimed the comic book world to be an “elitist world.”

You have to admire her honesty.

“I grew up loving mainstream comics like X-Men, Gen 13, Witchblade and things like that. I have some knowledge, but I’m not a hardcore nerd. Unfortunately, I would like to be, but I just don’t have the knowledge. Because I do make appearances at Comic-Con and I don’t want to get stoned there. So, I’m telling them the truth.”

She also mentioned that she would like to play Kitana should they ever come out with another Mortal Kombat movie.

Although Fox said she knew nothing of the Jonah Hex source material, she was able to rely on director Jimmy Hayward’s passion on the subject. She also pointed out since Jonah Hex was live-action, it would have to be adapted anyway and that some changes would need to be made.

This wasn’t the first time Fox let her inner geek show. In 2009, she let her “geek flag” become apparent on Jimmy Kimmel Live letting the world know she’s a fan of Witchblade, Fathom, and the art of Gen 13. Comic Book Resource’s Brad Curran talked about how he thought the aforementioned comics may very well be the only comics she’s probably read. He also wondered that she could have been coached to recite her comic book knowledge via geek PR reps.

This may explain Fox’s defensive stance via the MTV News interview a year later with Josh Horowitz.

Quite a few actors have always teased themselves via social media, posing with comic books. Some desire to be in that role while others may be actually hinting at having been chosen for the role. Megan Fox has done none of that for the DC movie. She may be just curious about those three naughty fictional vixens of the Gotham City Sirens and perhaps some fans could picture her playing such a role. She’s titillated many in her Transformers role as a gear head, so perhaps she can pull it off in the DCEU spin-off movie?

The Gotham City Sirens team-up may turn out to be pretty interesting as a female team of villains in a city that is guarded by Batman. Do you think Bruce Wayne will have his hands full?
