Joy-Anna Duggar And Austin Forsyth Courtship Heavily Chaperoned By Jim Bob, Michelle, And The Duggars, Family Invested In Joy After Jinger Got Married
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth started their courtship early – but that doesn’t mean that her parents trust her as fully. Because Joy-Anna is only 19 and Austin 23, her mother and father, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, decided to be a little bit more strict with the rules of the courtship as the young lovebirds find their way together.
A normal young couple would celebrate any milestone events like birthdays by themselves, but being a part of the Duggars mean that Joy and Austin have to do it a more traditional way. In Austin’s birthday celebration, they found themselves accompanied by Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who seemed rather protective of their daughter.
“Happy 23rd Birthday, Austin!” The Duggars wrote on Facebook.
“We had a great time going on our double date with you and Joy this weekend! We are loving the time we are getting to spend with you as you and Joy court, and we are so excited to see what the Lord has in-store for you and our sweet Joy!”

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth announced their courtship right after Jinger and Jeremy’s wedding. They shared their sweet story of getting together to the world, hinting that they may be the next ones to walk down the aisle.
“I just asked her to enter a courtship with me,” Austin said, according to Radar Online.
“Almost 15 years. I picked this spot because last time we were here together was August 1, 2015.”
“I hadn’t been here in so long,” she said.
“I was not expecting this. So happy.”

Her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, immediately expressed on social media that they support this courtship.
“Austin is a great guy and we are excited for the future,” her mother said in a video she posted on the family blog.
The 19-year-old Duggar is one of the girls that started her courtship earlier than her other sisters. Jinger, who had her grand wedding to Jeremy Vuolo in early November, started her courtship when she was 21, which is two years later than Joy-Anna.
Since she has very protective brothers, who will not let an unworthy man date her, there may be little to be worried about.
“For me, he would almost have to be a perfect guy,” Jedidiah said to People Magazine.
“And he would go through a lot of testing!”
To that, Josiah added, “I think if guys come around, they’re going to have to get through a few guys – [I’m] talking about me and [my brother] Joseph.”
“If a guy shows up to court Joy, there will definitely be a lot of us standing back a little bit, kind of checking him out,” Joseph said.
She is definitely one of the darlings of the family. Not only is she protected and loved by her numerous brothers, but she is also loved by many of her sisters. The one that is closest to her is Jinger, though she will not be around much anymore.
“I think it’s really neat to see throughout the years [how] she’s really changed and grown up a lot,” Jinger said, according to People Magazine.
“Years ago, she would have been the tomboy out in the trees and climbing all over the place, never wanting to fix her hair.”
Looks like Joy-Anna really changed her ways to get herself a suitor!
The Duggar family also has been eagerly showcasing a softer and more motherly side of Joy ever since she started courting. The last picture they posted of her on Instagram may be in black-and-white, but it shows a very warm side of her personality.
