Lisa Vanderpump Spills Details About Kim Richards’ Sobriety

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump spilled details about castmate Kim Richards’ sobriety at the launch of Vanderpump Pets at Petco in New York City.

Radar Online interviewed Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump at an event to promote her new line of Vanderpump Pets products. When asked about her Bravo co-star Kim Richards and her current battle with alcoholism, the reality star responded positively.

“[She] is doing very well, absolutely! I really support Kim because I think that she is a really good girl.”

Numerous relapses and run-ins with the law got Kim Richards fired from the Bravo reality series at the end of Season 5. At the time Kim Richards was fired, Lisa Vanderpump had not been shy about how she felt.

“A reality show should document your reality. It shouldn’t be the reason you drink and the show should not be what keeps you sober.”

After Richards was able to get sober, she was allowed to make a few appearances on the last season. She will appear again in the current season.

“It is good to have her back on the show. There are a lot of poignant memories with Kim because we started all together.”

Just last week, Kim Richards told ET that she was happy and sober.

“I’m in such a good place. You know, I’m so happy… I had fun with my sister. We’re in an amazing place this year.”

Richards’ joy stems from her new role as a grandmother to her first grandchild. Kim’s daughter, Brooke Wiedenhorn, gave birth to a son, Hucksley, back in September.

“I’m loving being a grandma. It’s like one of the best things that’s happened to me since my kids were born, maybe even — I can’t even say it’s better because I’m still enjoying my kids as much as the day they were born. So, now to enjoy Hucksley like this is just an amazing extra gift for me.”

Kim Richards’ public battle with substance abuse is behind her, and Kim insists she is now “100 percent” in a good place.

“I have to say, I go to sleep happy, I wake up happy. I get to spend a lot of time with my kids and a lot of time with my grandson. I really am the happiest — I want to say ever, but I can’t take that away from my children. But I just have this new baby now to love, too, and [I’m] in such a good place with my sisters as well.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is looking forward to spending a sober holiday with her family.

“Christmas is going to be the best ever, you know?” she added. “So, this is amazing.”

Once-estranged sister Kylie Richards commented that she couldn’t do the show without her sister.

“It would feel very strange not to have her be a part of it, absolutely. We started it together and we were the first ones on the show, so it [would] just feel weird. I don’t think I could.”

Now that Kim Richards is sober and healthy, will she jump back into the drama with the other girls on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
