Nick Viall’s ‘Bachelor’ Contestants: Strange Occupations, Dolphin Lovers & Super Young Women

Nick Viall is hoping to find love on television for the fourth time on The Bachelor. The 30 lovely contestants are certainly diverse, with some very strange occupations and a communal love of dolphins, will Nick finally find the one?

The biographies of the 2017 season’s crop of Bachelor contestants has been released, and there are definitely some unique characters in the bunch. ABC introduced the 30 women to Bachelor fans by having them answer some classic questions like favorite movies, sad and past relationship stories, occupation, tattoo regrets, and some totally unrelated questions, like “If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?”

It looks like a number of these ladies have something in common- they love dolphins.

* If you could be any animal, which would you be and why? A dolphin because they are so cute and smart and they get to live in such a beautiful environment, under the sea! — Lauren, 30

* If you could be any animal, which one and why? Dolphin so I could breathe underwater, do flips and be cute. — Briana, 28

* If you could be any animal, which one and why? Dolphin, so I could rescue lost sailors and swim in the ocean doing tricks. — Astrid, 26

* If you could be any animal, which one and why? Dolphin. They are playful and sociable and live in family groups. — Angela, 26

* If you could be any animal, which one and why? Dolphin or dog. I love the ocean and dogs are very active! — Alexis, 23

According to Vulture, Alexis, 23, also listed her occupation as “Aspiring Dolphin Trainer.” However, she can be seen on The Bachelor dressed up in a shark costume and sharks aren’t necessarily known for being friendly to dolphins.

The other 29 contestants also have some interestingly odd occupations listed on their biographies.

Most of these women seem to be legitimately employed, compared to last season’s “Dog Lover” and “Free Spirit.”

Back in August, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said she would like to see some changes with the casting, and that there was a “need to increase the pool of diverse candidates in the beginning, according to ET.

This season, there are seven women in the medical field including an “unemployed nurse” to a “travel nurse” to a “doula.”

Although going for more diverse occupations, it seems the casting for The Bachelor overlooked the fact that they cast 21 brunettes on this season.

Perhaps they were hoping to cast ladies that seem to be Nick Viall’s physical type. In the past, the bachelor has fallen for brunettes like Andi Dorfman, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and Jennifer Saviano.

There are 27 women out of 30 who are in their twenties this Bachelor season.

The oldest woman cast is 31-years-old, which is still five years younger than 36-year-old Nick Viall.

Also among the 30 contestants is a model, a wedding videographer, a business owner, a small business owner, a restaurant server (aka waitress?), marketing manager, photographer, flight attendant, chef, pro basketball dancer, attorney, two teachers, and even a food truck owner.

Page Six recently reported that it looks like Viall could finally be engaged, having just wrapped up filming for his Bachelor season.

Viall was seen uncharacteristically keeping to himself on a “boys night out” with former Bachelor In Paradise castmate Evan Bass and another friend.

“Two female fans came up to the table, but Viall kept his distance and was on his phone the majority of the time.

“It seemed to be a boys’ night out.”

So perhaps this Bachelor is already taken? Viall was a record two-time runner-up on The Bachelorette, so fans of the show would be happy to see him “win” for once.

The new season of The Bachelor will premiere January 2 on ABC.
