Michelle Obama On Jimmy Kimmel Gives Show Biggest Thursday Ratings In Five Years

Michelle Obama’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! helped give the late-night show its best Thursday ratings in five years.

Proving that she remains a popular figure with the public, the First Lady’s appearance on the ABC show pulled in 2.4 million people, according to Deadline Hollywood.

In what was her first ever appearance on the show, Michelle Obama racked up Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s most viewers for a Thursday since 2007, and the most overall viewers since June 12.

Deadline adds that, among the key advertising demographic of 18 to 49, 855,000 viewers tuned in. Those were Kimmel’s best ratings in that demographic since June 21, reports the site.

Thursday’s show saw the First Lady appear in a skit where she crept up on a sleeping Kimmel to bellow through a megaphone, “It’s time to vote!”

In her interview with Kimmel, Michelle Obama revealed that the President warns daughters Sasha and Malia about not looking bored during his speeches:

“That was the instruction before he gave his speech at the DNC. We’re backstage and they’re playing around and they’re laughing and they’re giggling and he said, ‘Just act like you’re listening to me!’ “

Obama added to the talk show host:

“The whole time, I’m clapping and looking over at them and I’m like, ‘Smile. Smile.’ and they’re like, ‘Oh, OK.’ “
