Kandi Burruss Thought Bomb Threat Was Fake: ‘RHOA’ Star More Focused On Her Marriage?

Kandi Burruss used to be close friends with Phaedra Parks, and one can imagine she would have rushed to be by her friend’s side if they were still close after learning about the bomb threat that shook Atlanta this summer. Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta shared the shocking news that a rapper had brought a bomb into her office building and threatened to blow everything up because he felt poorly treated. Phaedra wasn’t in the office that day, as she was in Philadelphia to speak at a DNC convention, but one can imagine she was in shock to learn the news.

According to a new Bravo report, Kandi Burruss is now revealing how she felt when she learned about the news of the bomb threat. At first, Burruss thought the whole thing was fake. While she didn’t clarify why she thought it was fake since it was on the news, Kandi realized that it may be true when a huge mall was evacuated by police. It seems odd that Burruss would question the validity of the story, especially since she was getting the news from her close friend and co-worker, Carmon.

“At first I thought it was some fake B.S., but when Carmon told me that they evacuated Lenox Mall, which is near Phaedra’s office, I knew it was serious. Overall I was glad that Phaedra was out of town and far away from any danger,” Kandi Burruss explains to Bravo on her blog for The Real Housewives of Atlanta after learning about the bomb threat.

As the episode was airing, Kandi Burruss received plenty of negative criticism from viewers, who thought she was rude to laugh when she heard the news. Of course, Kandi could have been in shock or questioning whether the story was true, which was why she laughed. But viewers also saw Phaedra’s reaction at the same time, which clearly showed that the story was shocking to her. Kenya Moore, on the other hand, has revealed that she immediately thought about Parks’ children when she heard about the bomb threat.

But it is possible that Kandi had other things to worry about, especially since she kept talking about her marriage. Burruss and Todd Tucker got together a few years ago and were married shortly after. Kandi was concerned that she would hit that five-year mark and everything would slow down. Burruss and her husband had seen relationships fall apart around them, including Kenya Moore and Matt Jordan, Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida, and more recently, Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas. So when Kandi Burruss’ mother surprised them with some alone time, Kandi and Todd decided to jump on it.

“Of course! I was shocked. It was really nice though. When you have a new baby, all attention goes to the baby and you don’t think to make time for the intimate nights. So I was happy,” Kandi Burruss explains on her Bravo blog about her marriage, adding, “Of course! You have to take advantage of your time when you have a babysitter.”

Many viewers felt it was odd that it was Burruss’ mother, Mama Joyce, who planned out the sexy date between Kandi and Todd. And while some viewers may have felt uncomfortable, it is interesting that this will become a theme this season, as Kandi’s sex life will be the topic of discussion later this season.

What do you think of Kandi Burruss’ decision to film such an intimate scene with her husband? Do you think it was odd that they were talking about failed relationships during a time when they were planning to have sex?
