WWE News: Former Multi-Time Champion Confirms He Is Returning To WWE

The brand extension and WWE superstar draft back in the summer have brought back a number of names from the past. The Headbangers have been making appearances, Rhyno was one of the first-ever SmackDown LIVE tag team champions until last night, and Shelton Benjamin is still hoping to return after he heals up. Now, it has been confirmed that one extremely popular superstar and former multi-time champion is heading back as well.

Yoshihiro Tajiri, one of the legends of Japanese wrestling, is indeed heading back to WWE, and he is going to be there in early 2017. The master of the Tarantula and the guy known for spewing green mist into the faces of his opponents is heading back to the place where he had so much success.

Wrestling Inc. pointed out that Tajiri shared some news on his Twitter account and let the world know this weekend that he would be finishing up in Japan soon. Once he was done later this month, he was going to head to WWE once again.

As this tweet is written in his native language, it may not make much sense to a lot of people. Some things are obvious and noticeable such as “NXT” and “WWE,” but Wrestling Inc. has the loose translation, which details Tajiri’s plans.

“I gave you OK because I got OK from Regal GM yesterday ‘s NXT Osaka performance “I can announce it from tomorrow”. I will return to WWE early next year. 12/27 Kanemura Retirement box office will be the last game in Japan, and acupuncture activity will end in Japan this month. Thank you very much, everyone for 10 years! It is!”

Over the weekend, Tajiri teamed up with Akira Tozawa to perform in a match for the WWE. Actually, it was at NXT Japan and the duo battled #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) for the NXT Tag Team Titles, as recapped by Wrestling News.

The match was said to be one of the best on the card, and it showed that even at 46-years-old, Tajiri still has it and can go with anyone in the world.

Tajiri is no stranger to WWE as he wrestled for the company for many years and won numerous titles including the United States Championship, Cruiserweight Title, and Tag Team gold on a couple of occasions. He returned to the company this summer for the Cruiserweight Classic, where he defeated Damian Slater before being eliminated by Gran Metalik.

His full-time return to WWE is going to be an interesting one as no one truly knows what he is going to be doing. Tajiri could end up in NXT working with young up-and-coming talents as his longtime friend William Regal has been doing for quite some time.

Cageside Seats reports that Tajiri could end up working with the cruiserweight division and serving as a coach for those superstars. It’s also possible that he may end up on the active roster and wrestling on WWE television once again, but that is not exactly known as of yet.

Tajiri has been wrestling for two decades, and he has performed all over the world. He spent a number of years in WWE and ended up winning a number of different titles with his hard kicks, insane moves, and green mist. Now, he is heading back to WWE and is going to be with the company full-time. His exact role is not yet known, but he will likely work with the cruiserweight division and NXT while also possibly being an in-ring performer on occasion.
