Johnny Depp And Amber Heard: Volatile Marriage And Abuse That Came Before, Depp Shares How Music Saved Him From Childhood ‘Nightmare’

After a troublesome and dramatic end to the marriage between Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp and Magic Mike actress Amber Heard that involved allegations of passionate and heated arguments as well as domestic violence that resulted in Heard seeking a restraining order, the former couple have moved on in their respective social circles and careers, leaving many unanswered questions in the wake of it all.

Heard filed for divorce back in May after alleging that Depp was abusive towards her, demonstrating the effects of his supposed violence by submitting photo documentation of herself with a black eye. The fallout between the two was very high-profile and in the end, the former star couple came to an agreement to release a joint statement that diminished the initial allegations brought against Depp. The Inquisitr recently shared this statement released by Depp and Heard’s respective legal teams.

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”

This released statement has been controversial seeing as it downplays the act of violence by saying that there was not any intent for the outcome that resulted. Women’s groups, who advocate for those who have suffered domestic abuse, have made their opinions known on this very case between Depp and Heard. Safe Horizon addressed the manner in which Heard was viewed after filing claims of domestic violence against the notable actor.

“Of course, as far as many advocates are concerned, the focus should be on what Depp is alleged to have done, instead of his accuser’s behavior, which is all too often what gets scrutinized when these kinds of cases come to light. For instance, images of Heard smiling hours after an alleged assault have been presented as proof of her insincerity.”

Regardless of the actual happenings that occurred between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, it is clear that the two had a volatile relationship and one that was rumored to be rocky right from the point that the former couple said their I dos.

Recently Johnny Depp has shared that he suffered a nightmarish childhood that involved physical abuse, which caused him to turn to music at a young age. In an exclusive interview with Team Rock, the actor and musician spoke about how learning to play the guitar at a young age allowed him to escape his troublesome and tumultuous home life. The publication notes the words of Depp.

“I found a way to escape all the, sort of, nightmare home stuff, you know? It was a pretty radical – a pretty unpredictable – household that I lived in. You never knew what was going to be coming next. It might be an ashtray thrown at your head. Or a shoe.”

Although Johnny shares that most of the violence was inflicted on him by his mother, his father played his part in the abuse as well.

“My dad was good with the belt. But those were different days. They did what they knew best. But when I found guitar, from that moment on, like, I don’t have any memory whatsoever of puberty. None. Because I just literally locked myself in my bedroom and paid attention to the records, and I learned stuff.”

Previous flames of the star, such as Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis, have never claimed any sort of violence inflicted by Depp. This does not diminish Heard’s claims, it simply demonstrates that she and Johnny were a match that resulted in heightened emotion and a volatility that brought about crisis.
