‘Walking Dead’ Actress Alanna Masterson Slams Body-Shamers On Instagram

Walking Dead actress Alanna Masterson posted an angry on Instagram on Tuesday, targeting body-shamers for their negative comments about her body.

Masterson portrays Tara on The Walking Dead. Many critics took to social media after the latest show from the series, which was aired on Sunday. The critics body-shamed her by writing hateful messages about her weight and that her breasts were too large. The actress was clearly disappointed by the hateful comments on social media, so she decided to retaliate by writing a long message next to a photo of her 1-year-old child.

“Dear Instagram trolls, body shamers, and the men and woman who think it’s ok to comment on my weight: I hope that you don’t have children. And if you do, I hope you teach them about kindness and acceptance,” Masterson wrote on Instagram.

Masterson got pregnant with her first child while still filming The Walking Dead, which is now in the seventh season. Alanna and her boyfriend, Brick Stowell, welcomed their daughter, Marlowe, into the world in November of last year. This is not Masterson’s first time encountering social media bullies; she slammed body-shamers on Twitter for their negative comments about her body when she was eight months pregnant.

The first part of Alanna’s social media response to the haters was a bit soft. She explained that being a working parent requires kindness and selflessness, adding that it is a tough task. She also wrote that she hopes one day the people bullying her will one find out what it is like to be a parent. Masterson also asked them to consider that she has come a long way before they make any negative comments about the size of her breasts or her weight.

The message in the post then took a tougher tone.

“I wouldn’t have changed it for a second. I would’ve gladly continued to eat enough calories to produce milk for her little bones to grow. Also, grow the f*** up. Your mother should be ashamed for raising such a judgmental bully. I’m sure she knows how ‘courageous’ you must be for trolling and hiding behind your iPhone and computers,” the mother-of-one stated.

Alanna believes that she does not deserve such comments considering the amount of work that she takes up while raising her daughter at the same time. She also felt bad about the comments because she put in so much work into Tara’s role. The 28-year-old actress revealed that she spends a lot of time playing the Walking Dead character. She stated that she would rush to the set as soon as put her daughter to sleep while they were shooting the first episode of the latest season. Masterson revealed that she would go every night as a show of support to her co-stars. Alanna told Entertainment Weekly that she wanted to be there for everyone.

Some of the social media comments had shamed her character for putting on weight while she was constantly on the road in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Cyber bullying, especially on social media, has always been a persistent problem because there are very little countermeasures against it. Also, people take advantage of the anonymity of social media to make unfair comments about others. Masterson hopes that the lengthy message to her haters will help silence the cyber bullies who have been attacking her. She tried hard to make sure that the message was heartfelt and it drives the point home. The Walking Dead actor hopes that slamming her body-shamers will finally give her some well-deserved peace.
