‘Outlander’ Season 3: Jamie And Claire’s Print Shop Reunion Finally Filmed [Spoilers]

Warning: This article may contain Outlander Season 3 spoilers.

Fans of the Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series know that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) reunite in a print shop in Voyager, the third book of the series and the one upon which Outlander Season 3 is based. Since the star-crossed lovers were cruelly separated at the end of Season 2, fans have been hoping series executive producer Ronald D. Moore would include the emotional print shop scene in the new season, which is currently filming in Scotland.

The good news is that Outlander co-executive producer Matthew B. Roberts recently teased a photo of a script with the print shop interlude on Twitter.

The bad news is that the script says “Jamie enters” the shop, which is different from the way the scene unfolds in Voyager. An anxious fan asked about the discrepancy, but Roberts tried to assure viewers that all is well, and the Outlander Season 3 cast and crew have earned some trust after producing two successful seasons.

Meanwhile, Outlander Season 3 production designer, Jon Gary Steele, tweeted another photo that got fans excited for the much-anticipated scene.

Earlier this month, Caitriona Balfe (Claire) told Vanity Fair about the pressure she and the rest of the Outlander Season 3 cast and crew feel to get the iconic moments of the book series right for fans.

“The first thing everyone talks about is the print shop [where Jamie and Claire are re-united after decades apart]. ‘Are you going to do the print shop? You can’t change one line of the print shop.’ We haven’t actually gotten to film that yet, but I think the writers are well aware that they have to do the fans right. There’s Jamie and the cave, and I think there’s a lot of Claire and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) stuff that fans are looking forward to as well.”

Balfe also admitted that fans told her they were disappointed by the lack of sex between Claire and Jamie in Outlander Season 2.

“I definitely heard that they missed a lot of the intimacy between Jamie and Claire, which I think we were sort of expecting,” said the actress.

“I think even Sam and I sort of missed—especially in the beginning because it was so heavy on the politics—I think we were all missing those more intimate moments. They have so many of their iconic fan moments that they really are looking forward to, so you definitely always hear whenever some of those are not there. I’m trying to think of specifics for you, but the one that I just kept hearing, from what I saw on my Twitter: ‘Where’s the sex?'”

But she hinted Outlander Season 3 may have more intimacy between Jamie and Claire — if fans are patient.

“There will be some other sex going on. I think to really let the reunion and everything that’s going to happen once Jamie and Claire see each other, I think it’s really special. Maybe they’ll have to wait a little bit, but I don’t think it’s going to be as scarce as last season, shall we say?”

Meanwhile, as the Inquisitr previously noted, another beloved Outlander couple was recently spotted filming Season 3 in Scotland. Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin — also known as Jamie and Claire’s daughter Brianna and her lover Roger — filmed some street scenes in Glasgow.

Next to Jamie and Claire, Brianna and Roger are the most pivotal couple in Outlander, and, like Balfe, Rankin has expressed nervousness at meeting fan expectations.

“There is so much anticipation for these characters,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“I really think what we care most about is whether people are going to be happy with these characters that they’ve been waiting two years for.”

Do you trust the cast and crew of Outlander Season 3 to get the print shop scene right?
