‘Safe Haven’ Gets A Trailer: Julianne Hough And Josh Duhamel Star In Romantic Thriller [Video]

The upcoming romantic thriller Safe Haven has released its first official trailer.

The film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’s novel of the same name stars Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel and is directed by Lasse Hallström. The film co-stars David Lyons and Cobie Smulders and promises a turn of expectations regarding what we normally see in a Sparks film adaptation. Here’s the official synopsis:

“An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.”

E! Online opines of the film:

“Everything about Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel’s new flick Safe Haven reads as a typical romance movie, but regardless of how many tearjerkers we’ve watched, this one still seems too appealing to ignore.”

Safe Haven is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 8, 2013, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Boyfriends and husbands of the world need only drop the name “Nicholas Sparks” and you’ve got yourself a guaranteed winner for a romantic date. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right?
