Perrie Edwards Playfully Bops DJ Who Cracks Joke About Zayn

Perrie Edwards has been open about her split with Zayn Malik. However, the Little Mix singer got a little passionate when she made an appearance with her bandmates in a recent radio interview.

Perrie Edwards previously confirmed the rumors that Zayn Malik ended their relationship via text message. According to the Mirror, a French radio host jokingly told the singer – through the help of a translator – that he has done the same to an ex-girlfriend. Edwards took a swing at the DJ and ended up slapping him in the face. Edwards appeared shocked as she laughed and tried to play it cool.

The crowd started chanting “PERRIE! PERRIE! PERRIE!” It was obvious that it was just a joke and Perrie wasn’t that upset. She laughed and hugged the radio host afterward. It still makes for an awkward interview, though.

That wasn’t as bad as when Little Mix headed down under to promote their new album, Glory Days. One pesky interviewer asked Jesy Nelson, who reportedly split from fiance Jake Roche, about her relationship status. Then he proceeded to ask Edwards and Jade Thirwall about their friend’s relationship, to which they didn’t take too kindly.

“Why isn’t Jesy wearing her engagement ring in Sydney?” the interviewer asked the women.

Jade ripped the sheet of questions out of the man’s hands and threw them away, telling him that his questions were “a bit rude.”

“That’s rude that!” Jade was heard saying before throwing the questions away.

“That is brutal!” Edwards added. “Just coming out with that. Next question sir. What are you going to do without your paper now, smart a**!”

Last month, a leaked excerpt from Little Mix’s upcoming book, Our World, Edwards revealed that Malik ended their relationship with just one text, as reported by Cosmopolitan.

“It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.”

Edwards and her Little Mix bandmates were in the middle of promoting their single “Black Magic” and their previous album, Get Weird. Luckily, Edwards’ bandmates were there for her. She explained how supportive they were after the news of her split.

“The girls were amazing, we’d have sleepovers and they’d get my favourite desserts and do everything they could to cheer me up. I surrounded myself with friends and family… I didn’t want to be alone because when I was I’d start thinking about things and get upset.”

Her comments still went against what Zayn previously told Fader magazine concerning the rumors about their split.

“If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative. I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message. I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that. She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”

Edwards and Malik have since moved on from their split. The “Pillowtalk” singer has dated model Gigi Hadid for about a year now. Edwards was recently spotted with British actor Luke Pasqualino, but the two ended their brief affair due to a lack of chemistry. Since then, Edwards has been staying single and making music with her Little Mix girl group.
