Jill Duggar Gets Derick Dillard To Stay For Family Thanksgiving 2016 Away From Jessa, Jinger, Jana And Rest Of The Duggars

Jill Duggar recently expressed some reservations about El Salvador, where she, her husband, and their baby, Israel, were doing mission work, so it’s a good thing that she gets to stay in the U.S. for Thanksgiving 2016! But this time, the Counting On star is spending this holiday away from Jessa, Jinger, Jana, and the rest of the Duggars to be with the Dillards. Following Jinger and Jeremy’s wedding, Jill apparently wants to reconnect with her husband’s side of the family.

With Thanksgiving just days away, Jill and Derick Dillard found their way to Missouri, where his family resides. While Jill is very close to Jessa, Jinger, Jana, and the rest of the Duggars, it looks like he really wanted to spend this special holiday with his parents.

Derick uploaded a blurry but sweet picture of his wife and baby Israel, showing that they are ready to kick off Thanksgiving 2016 with his family.

Spending this time of year with the Dillards must mean a lot to him as his mother went through cancer treatment when he got married to Jill Duggar. Now, she is a survivor and Jill and Derick have posted about her recovery on Instagram.

Just because Jill is spending Thanksgiving away from the Duggars does not mean that she loves them less. She was in the family’s home state of Arkansas throughout this summer, planning Jinger’s wedding, celebrating many milestones of her baby Israel, and making sure that he bonds with her father, Jim Bob.

Derick hopes to return to El Salvador to continue the mission work, but for now, Jill seems happy enough to remain stateside. In the latest interview, she revealed just how dangerous it is to live in Central America, sharing experiences of when she feared for her life.

“Every week, it seems like there would be different instances because Derick would preach one night a week a little distance from our house, so I would be at home alone with Israel,” Jill said. “One night, we were getting ready to go to bed, and we heard this loud crashing sound. Derick’s like, ‘You go in the bathroom,’ which is our safe room. We have our laptops, so we were messaging people back home like, ‘Pray for us. We don’t know what’s going on.'”

Having the Dillard family back in Arkansas was very important for the Duggars.

“We’re all really excited,” Jessa said, according to Us Weekly. “For most everybody, it’s been nearly 10 months since they’ve got to hang out with them and see them in person. Jill and I have had so much in common over these past three years. It’s been difficult for me not to have that connection with her, sister to sister — now mom to mom. So we’re looking forward to having them back.”

Back in the U.S., Jill has been putting in a lot of effort to fight the negative news concerning her family. With Josh Duggar’s cheating and molestation scandal still lingering in the air, she has been posting lots of positive photos on Instagram.

Derick showed how much it meant to have Jill and Israel by his side at his alma mater’s homecoming.

“Beautiful weekend for #okstate homecoming festivities! Started off Saturday right at the ‘Sea of Orange Parade’ reconnecting with other Pistol Pete Alumni on our float,” he wrote. “Sadly, this is also the 1-yr anniversary of the tragic parade crash that claimed 4 lives and injured nearly 50 more. In many ways the parade served as a tribute to the victims as well as the responders who acted so courageously. #homecoming2016 #homecoming2015 #stillwaterstrong #wewillalwaysremember.”
