Jill Zarin’s Husband Suffering From Cancer, Bobby Zarin And Dr. David Pfister Remain Positive

Jill Zarin told E! News that her husband’s cancer was back. Zarin revealed the news at the Angel Ball on Monday. Bobby had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June 2009 but he underwent surgery through which his thyroid was successfully removed. He also went through radioactive iodine treatment. Unfortunately, last year doctors discovered that cancer had spread to his lungs during a routine checkup at the Princeton Longevity Center. Jill almost broke into tears while revealing the news on the red carpet.

“He’s getting the best of care. We like to share this story because we like to help everybody. We have a great team…He had thyroid cancer that had spread to the lungs but it’s all going to be good,” Jill told E! News reporters.

Jill, who is a former star of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City, explained that they have been maintaining a strong outlook since the recent diagnosis. She also added that they have to be strong and are glad to be at the gala so that they can help raise funds for cancer research. Despite the unfortunate news, the couple is handling the issue with a positive approach.

“We don’t want to miss anything while Bobby’s healthy and strong and we’re just going to fight it,” Jill explained.

The founder of Zarin Fabrics did not exhibit any symptoms during the first and second diagnosis. The couple has been seeking guidance from Dr. David Pfister, who is one of the top oncologists at the Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital in New York. They have also been consulting with Dr. Keith Bible of Mayo Clinic, Minnesota and Dr. Richard Lazzaro of Lenox Hill Hospital, New York. Dr. Lazzaro is one of the top specialists in robotic thoracic surgery.

Bobby has been going for regular checkups for the past two years to get his lungs scanned to check whether the tumors had spread. In April 2015, Bobby received a fourth medical opinion about his condition at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Lazzaro performed a surgery to remove the tumors using a medical technology called the da Vinci Robotic System. The latter is a form of surgery that replaces mainstream major surgeries while achieving similar results. Following the surgery, Bobby’s wife Jill had a sample of the cancerous tissue sent to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong for further study. Dr. Soon-Shiong’s firm came up with a technology that tries to identify genetic mutations in an individual’s specific cancer cells.

Zarin is currently going through treatment at MD Anderson under the guidance of Dr. Ron De Pinho, who is also a family friend. Bobby is currently receiving gamma radiation treatment. Unfortunately, the cancer has already spread to his lungs, making it more difficult to treat. Jill and Bobby are strong supporters of the Angel Ball, which supports cancer research. They are even motivated by the fact that Bobby has been battling cancer. The 70-year-old entrepreneur claims that he feels great considering that the recent diagnosis is still fresh.

The couple wants to dwell on positivity since Bobby is still strong. It is thus important for Bobby and Jill to take advantage of the time that they have before Bobby’s heath deteriorates. The couple is also optimistic because they have some of the best cancer specialists encouraging and supporting them. Jill is clearly trying hard to be strong for her husband, but sometimes she clearly feels the difficulty of the situation such as when she almost broke down at the red carpet. Despite the fact that Bobby’s cancer is back, he is determined to be strong, and his happy mood at the Angel Ball is an indicator that he is still fighting on zealously.
