Selena Gomez Accused Of Plastic Surgery, Sparks Fresh Health Concerns After AMAs Appearance

Selena Gomez is sparking fresh concerns for her health following her rare public appearance at the 2016 American Music Awards on November 20.

After Selena made a surprise appearance at the Los Angeles music award show, where she was nominated for three awards including the prestigious Artist of the Year, fans began to speculate that Gomez seemed “different” after Perez Hilton alleged earlier this year that the singer and actress has spent several weeks in rehab as she continues her battle with lupus.

Fans were quick to comment on Selena’s transformation on social media, with some Twitter users claiming that they didn’t believe Gomez looked well and even sounded different after taking a hiatus from the public eye since canceling her remaining “Revival Tour” dates back in August.

“Guys I’m so f*****g worried, Selena is not okay!!” Gomez fan @paramoregomezz wrote on the social media site of Selena’s surprise appearance at the AMAs. “Her face looks different, her voice sounds different. Poor baby.”

“Selena looks so d**n skinny and different,” Selena fan @JuanfraLozano added of Gomez’s changing looks. “My baby.”

Other fans were even quick to accuse Gomez of undergoing plastic surgery during her time away from the spotlight, though Selena has not confirmed that she has ever gone under the knife.

“[It] looks like Selena had plastic surgery,” Twitter user @BizzleOntario claimed of Gomez, while @rihIieber tweeted out of Gomez’s changing looks, “Selena looks so different [to be honest].”

But while some Twitter users claimed that Selena’s apparent transformation was a sign Gomez may not be happy and healthy, others attributed the star’s changing looks to the fact that Selena is now finally on the road to recovery when it comes to her well-documented battle with lupus and its side effects.

“Selena [Gomez] looks so different but so beautiful omg I’ve missed her,” Selena fan @gomezquality wrote of Gomez’s AMAs appearance while @xgypsyheartx also tweeted that “Selena looks so different” at the AMAs, but added that “she looks beautiful as always.”

Gomez has not yet commented on the speculation surrounding her changing looks, and despite returning to the stage at the American Music Awards, has not yet returned to social media with her last posts on both Instagram and Twitter being from August 2016.

Selena’s attendance at the American Music Awards marked a rare public appearance for Gomez, who has only been spotted out publicly on a handful of occasions after revealing to People in late August that’s he would be canceling the remaining dates on her “Revival Tour,” which had dates scheduled around the world until December, in order to focus on her health.

It was first rumored earlier this month that Gomez was allegedly considering taking to the AMAs stage for a performance during her appearance at the show, though Selena did not perform at the 2016 American Music Awards and instead addressed her fans with an emotional speech while accepting the award for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock.

Hollywood Life first speculated about Selena’s return to the spotlight at the AMAs, claiming that Gomez viewed the award show as the perfect place to get back in front of her fans because she wanted “her first appearance back in front of her fans to be special.”

The site’s insider also went on to reveal earlier this month that Selena was consulting with both her family and her doctors in order to determine whether making an appearance at the AMAs would be helpful or detrimental to her health.

“[Selena] is flattered that she has been nominated,” the source revealed of Gomez’s AMAs plans at the time, alleging that Selena was “consulting with her family and doctors about whether or not getting back in front of a crowd and cameras is a healthy decision.”
