Gigi And Bella Hadid Discuss Their Weight Loss Struggles

Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid are opening up about their weight struggles in the modeling industry. Both sisters have been through their share of body shaming for being too curvy. They have since received backlash from their own fans for being too thin. It seems like they can’t win these days.

Gigi Hadid raised eyebrows when she was dressed in a huge red poncho during Tommy Hilfiger’s February 2015 fashion show. Earlier this month, the designer revealed that a casting director said at the time that Gigi “doesn’t really fit because you know she’s not quite as tall as the other girls, she’s not quite as thin.” That ended up with Gigi going down the runway in the red, white, and blue poncho as an attempt to cover up her body.

The 21-year-old is defending the fashion designer. Hadid opened up to Access Hollywood this past week about the controversial comments made about her size.

“The point of that story is that Tommy was rooting for me and that above all, regardless of what the stylists of that season said, or what he put me in, Tommy wanted me in the show and Tommy was pushing for me. Tommy loved my curves and the next season I wore a bikini on the same runway with the same stylists of the show that had previously put me in a poncho.”

While Gigi’s fans slammed Tommy Hilfiger, he retracted on his statements, saying he didn’t agree with the creative director’s decision to cover up Gigi.

“I was saying, ‘Don’t hide her body,'” he told Page Six.

“The suggestion that I thought she wasn’t thin enough upsets me to no end. Gigi is the epitome of perfection.”

Last week, Hilfiger spoke out to Yahoo Style’s Joe Zee about Hadid’s first runway show for the brand back in 2015.

“Our casting director said, ‘She doesn’t really fit because you know she’s not quite as tall as the other girls, she’s not quite as thin,'” he said.

“So they put a red, white, and blue poncho on her. It covered a lot of her body, unfortunately, but it received millions of hits.”

Bella Hadid has since opened up about her fluctuating weight in the fashion industry. She said that she misses her curves and that she would love to get her booty back. The younger Hadid sister admits that she didn’t lose the weight because some creative director or fashion designer told her to.

“I really didn’t mean to [lose weight],” Bella spoke out to People magazine about her weight loss.

“Like I want boobs. I want my a** back. But it’s not my fault. My weight fluctuates and so does everybody’s and I think that if people are gonna judge, that’s the worst you can possibly do because everybody is different.”

Hadid, who was announced to walk down the Victoria’s Secret runway for the first time later this month, claimed she dropped the weight “accidentally” by following a strict diet, which included working out three hours per day, according to Page Six. Now, it seems like Hadid regrets sticking with the rigid diet and fitness regimen. Even Hadid’s own fans started noticing that the 20-year-old was looking slimmer than usual.

“I worked out so hard and everybody is like, ‘Oh, she looks so skinny blah, blah, blah,” she said.

“But I think if you just stick to something you can really achieve so much. It’s crazy but I think that you know if you set your mind to something I think you can succeed.”

When she travels, Bella will stick with her routine. The brunette beauty says that she avoids eating airplane food and she drinks a lot of water, but she still makes sure to have her “cheat days.” As for working out, she trains with Rob Piela at Gotham Gym, the same guy who trains Gigi Hadid.
