Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Start A Custody War After She Denies His Joint Custody Request

Brad Pitt finally responded to the child custody portion of the divorce paperwork that Angelina Jolie filed. Pitt asked for joint custody of all six Jolie-Pitt children while Angelina was asking for sole custody of their kids. Now it looks like Angeline and Brad are headed for an all out custody war because Angelina has made it clear that she is not about to share custody with Brad.

Just last week, it had been reported that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were in negotiations over their pending divorce as well as what would happen with the kids. Angelina had already asked for full custody and the DCFS investigation was still pending.

It looks like any possibility of a peaceful divorce has gone out the window after Brad filed his response to the child custody paperwork on Friday. Rather than go along with Angelina’s request to grant her full physical custody of the Jolie-Pitt kids and only give him supervised visitation, Brad has asked for joint custody of the kids.

According to New York Magazine, Brad Pitt’s response came as a bit of a surprise. Angelina’s soon-to-be ex-husband previously said that he wouldn’t file a response to her divorce petition, and the original expiration date came and went. Pitt previously said he wanted to avoid a “nasty divorce battle” and was reportedly trying to handle divorce negotiations privately. There were even rumors that Angelina and Brad may be quietly working on a reconciliation, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen now.

TMZ reported that Angelina Jolie is ready to go to war with Brad Pitt over the children. They claim that Angelina still wants to keep full physical custody of the children, as is outlined by the temporary DCFS order, until Brad “gets his s**t together.”

Apparently, Angelina isn’t looking to take the kids away from Brad forever. She has plans to reunite the children with their father away from counselors and therapists once all the details of their divorce are hammered out. At some point, Angelina would like to continue parenting the Jolie-Pitt kids together with Brad despite them being separated. However, that won’t happen until he gets his alleged substance abuse and anger issues under control.

With Angelina and Brad filing different custody requests, divorce experts have suggested that this might mean their divorce battle is about to turn very ugly. One expert told People that Brad Pitt’s response might mean that negotiations have broken down between the estranged couple and that Brad is now ready to defend himself. It was also pointed out that in high-profile cases such as this one, usually the divorce petitioner leaves the other side an open-ended extension in order to work things out more amicably.

Since the private jet incident back in September, the Jolie-Pitt children have been living exclusively with Angelina Jolie. Brad Pitt has been able to see their kids only briefly while attending family therapy sessions. It has been reported that Maddox, Brad and Angelina’s 15-year-old son, doesn’t want anything to do with his famous father and has made it clear that he wants to remain in Angelina’s custody.

Pax and Shiloh are not in agreement with their older brother. The Inquisitr reported last week that two of Brad Pitt’s kids really want to live with their dad. It has not been reported if Zahara, Vivienne, or Knox have a preference about which parent they live with. It also isn’t a guarantee that the kids will get to pick which parent they go to. Depending on the outcome of the DCFS investigation, Brad could be stuck with supervised visitation while he works to prove that he is prepared to parent the Jolie-Pitt children properly.
