Pitt-Jolie Custody Battle Updates: It Might Get Ugly According To Lawyers

The Pitt-Jolie divorce saga might result to an ugly Pitt-Jolie custody battle according to a lawyer.

On November 4, Brad Pitt, 52, finally responded to Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing when he filed for joint legal and physical custody of their six children.

Earlier, Jolie requested sole custody of their six children granting Pitt visitation rights only. But Pitt’s response to that could mean that the direction they’re taking might lead to a rocky path according to one attorney.

According to People, Christopher Melcher, an attorney who shared his professional advice on the matter, said that Pitt’s filing on November 4 was just to show what he wants to happen but it’s not yet set in stone.

Melcher added, though, that Pitt’s response means that he’s not going to sit idly by and let Jolie take sole custody of their children, which could mean that everything could escalate to an ugly custody battle if their situation is not handled with care.

Earlier in September, Pitt and Jolie were embroiled in a nasty scandal when the latter suddenly filed for divorce from the Ocean’s Eleven actor, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.

Rumors sprung up suggesting that Jolie found out that Pitt was cheating on her with his co-star, French actress Marion Cotillard, but it was soon debunked when something much more controversial popped up.

Allegations that Pitt had an altercation with his and Jolie’s eldest child, Maddox, came to light and many sources say that this was the real reason why Angelina decided to call it quits on her marriage to Brad.

The allegations grew when it was reported that the FBI visited Jolie in her house to interview her about what happened on their flight on September 14.

According to Us Weekly, Pitt was intoxicated while they were aboard their private plane and it resulted in an argument with Jolie that ended with a physical confrontation with their eldest child.

It wasn’t confirmed if Pitt laid a hand on Maddox, but sources say that Brad has been undergoing therapy after the supposed incident.

According to People, Pitt is complying with every request that is being asked of him, even the random alcohol and drug tests.

People also said that both Pitt and Jolie are attending individual counseling to iron out any issues they have with each other in addition to the family counseling wherein their children are present.

So far, all six of their children are currently residing with Jolie and insiders say that the Unbroken director set aside all of her projects to focus on her children.

According to the source, Angelina Jolie stopped working since she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and she has been staying at home taking care of their kids.

As for Brad, he’s been busy undergoing therapy and trying to get back into the lives of his children by acquiescing to every request that Angelina asks.

But despite the counseling and Brad’s compliance, the Pitt-Jolie divorce saga could erupt into an ugly Pitt-Jolie custody battle because of the signs that Melcher sees in their preferences.

Melcher said that Pitt’s decision to file for joint custody could mean that he’s willing and ready to fight for his right to co-parent their children without restrictions like what Angelina originally wanted.

Melcher added that since Pitt and Jolie’s divorce is a high-profile case, it’s unusual that the latter seems unwilling to settle their separation with the least amount of hassle.

Most high-profile cases tend to coax the parties involved to settle their differences quietly, but this one doesn’t seem to belong to that category.

With that in mind, Melcher thinks that the Pitt-Jolie custody battle is going to rear its ugly head one of these days.

Melcher hopes that the former couple gets to resolve their differences without having their situation escalate to an ugly Pitt-Jolie custody battle.

He said that they just need to rebuild their trust on each other and from there they can start fixing their problems.
