Shania Twain Celebrates 19 Years Of ‘Come On Over,’ New Music Coming?

Shania Twain is celebrating another milestone. The country singer revealed on her social media accounts that Friday (Nov. 4) marked the 19th anniversary of her album, Come On Over.

“Happy birthday ‘Come on Over,'” Twain wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “19 years!! Thank you for listening and making this the best-selling country music album, and the best-selling studio album by a female act.”

Twain is one of the best-selling female artists in country music history. She has sold nearly 85 million albums. Twain is also the type of artist who can take large breaks between albums and still sell sold-out studio tours. She hasn’t released a new album since her 2002 release, Up! Twain’s fans have been waiting patiently for a new album from their country queen, and it looks like it could come sooner than they think, according to a report via Win 98.5.

Back in October, Twain was honored as the first female recipient of the Artist of a Lifetime Award at the CMT Artists of the Year special. Then, in an interview with Rolling Stone at the event, Twain confirmed that she is set to release a new album.

“I have new music coming out really soon, and I’m very excited about it. There will be a new musical chapter.”

The 51-year-old singer revealed that her upcoming album is her most diverse album yet. Twain has had the most crossover success with her country music. Twain’s new album has been in the works, but she’s been faced with vocal cord damage caused by dysphonia. She also had to find a new music producer since her divorce from her now ex-husband, Mutt Lange.

Twain revealed to Rolling Stone that she’s only been working with “a couple producers” on her forthcoming album, including Jake Gosling among others. Gosling is best known for his work with Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and One Direction. Twain’s process in finding new music producers was all about finding the ones who made the songs or sounds she enjoys.

“OK, who is responsible for that song that I love, or who is responsible for this record that I love or that sound I love? I’m narrowing it down that way, as opposed to by genre.”

She previously revealed that she was working on her fifth album over the summer. Twain has stayed active on social media and has even shared photos of herself in and out of the recording studio, as reported via Idolator. Twain previously promised to release a new single by her 51st birthday on Aug. 28, but sadly, that did not happen. However, Twain claims to have more than enough material to fill not one, but two albums.

“I’ve got enough songs for two albums at this point, because I’ve been at it for two years. We’ve already tackled, I’d say, half the album, as far as a first draft on production. There has to be a single release while I’m 50… the album will just follow as it follows.”

Her last single, “Today Is Your Day,” released back in 2011. Twain hasn’t released any new music since.

In the meantime, Twain’s fans can listen to her old music. Her full album catalog for Mercury Records was released for the first time on vinyl on Friday (Oct. 14), according to CMT. The vinyl release includes her 1993 self-titled debut, 1995’s The Woman In Me, 1997’s Come On Over, and 2002’s Up! Along with the original release, Up! is also available as a pop and country version.

The vinyl release coincided with Twain being honored with the Artist of a Lifetime award during the 2016 CMT Artists of the Year, which aired on Oct. 20.

There is no word on when Twain will release her next album. Are you looking forward to some more music from the country artist? Sound off below in the comments section.
