Taylor Swift’s Surprise Album: What Happened To The Announcement?

What happened to Taylor Swift’s surprise? Earlier this week, her record label announced that she was going to have a special surprise for her fans on Friday (Nov. 4). Swift’s fans assumed that she was dropping her new album in light of her 10th music career anniversary. However, that did not happen.

Taylor Swift’s fans have been desperately waiting for new music. She previously reveled to NME magazine that she was taking an extended hiatus after her 1989 World Tour. Swift, 26, did not seem certain on what she wanted to do on her break. But there was one thing that Swift was sure of: the general public needed a break from her.

“I’m in the news every single day for multiple different reasons,” she said. Then, when she was asked what she was going to do on her extended hiatus, Swift had to think it over for a few minutes.

“I think I should take some time off. I think people might need a break from me. I’m going to… I don’t know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

However, she has been in the news for her public relationships and breakups, along with stepping out with her squad, attending events, and making charitable contributions. In a recent interview with Vogue back in May, Swift said that while she could be writing new music, she wants to do other things with her time.

“I would really like to take a little time to learn things. I have lots of short-term goals. I want to be a well-rounded person who can make a good drink. To be able to save somebody if they’re drowning. So CPR, all the various kinds of chest compressions. People tell you tips, but that’s different from actually taking a class and getting certified.”

Swift’s record label, Universal Music Group, tweeted, “Hey #Swifties, we’ve got a surprise for you tomorrow. Follow us now and check back for something you’d not want to miss.” Included with the now-deleted tweet was an animated GIF wishing Swift’s debut album, Taylor Swift, a happy birthday. As previously reported via Celebuzz, the tweet in question made Swift’s fans freak out over the thought of a new album.

This isn’t the first outlet that has teased about a surprise from Taylor Swift. Back in October, E! News teased that there would be a surprise coming from Swift herself within the next week. Check out the tweet below.

“Next week we’ve got a Taylor Swift surprise that will blow your mind,” the announcer is heard saying.

Scott Borchetta, president and CEO of Swift’s label Big Machine records, previously denied the singer-songwriter would release new music in October, according to PopCrush. He took to Twitter when one of Swift’s fans asked him if the “Bad Blood” singer was dropping a surprise album, to which he responded with a resounding “NO.” He has since deleted the tweet, but he never denied a November release.

So far, the only surprises Swift has made was her appearance at the 2016 CMA Awards earlier this week. In addition, she did release some new music, but it was for the country band Little Big Town, according to GossipGirl. The band’s front woman Karen Fairchild announced that Swift wrote their new song “Better Man,” which they actually dropped last month.

“She sent us this song, and it was one that was really special to her,” Little Big Town’s Fairchild said during a press event. “And she thought of us because of the harmonies, and she’s never pitched a song to anyone before and the moment that we heard it we were like, ‘Man, that is a song that we’re gonna cut.'”

Swift took to Instagram to confirm the news and then the band dropped the music video for their new hit song, which you can check out below.

Since then, Swifties have been wondering who the pop star wrote the song about. When it comes to her own music, it seems like she’s taking some time to perfect her album before she’s ready to drop it.
