Cara Delevingne Slams Victoria’s Secret, Dakota Johnson Dating Rumors
Cara Delevingne is fighting back at the latest crop of rumors. She was not happy to see an article claiming that she was rejected to walk in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The Sun reported that Cara Delevingne was “too bloated” to walk in the 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after walking the previous two years. Cara took to social media to fight back at the “body shaming” article. She even fired back by posting a personal letter from Victoria’s Secret CMO, as reported via Us Weekly.
Responding to the rumor that she has not been physically fit since 2014, Delevingne, who shared a letter from Ed Razek, who’s the lead of the show’s annual casting call, on Friday, Nov. 4, via Instagram.
“Dearest Cara,” Razek started the letter. “Victoria’s Secret rarely comments on tabloid gossip, but this week’s article in British paper The Sun regarding you and the 2014 Victoria’s Secret fashion show is complete fabrication.”
“Contrary to The Sun‘s claims, which they never bothered to fact check with me, Victoria’s Secret made every effort to have you in the London show,” he continued the letter. “I know, because I was the one making the effort. As a matter of fact, you were the first person invited, months ahead of anyone else. The alleged casting, where supposedly disparaging remarks were made, never happened. There was NO casting. You had already been enthusiastically confirmed.”
Why didn’t Cara Delevingne walk in the show? Because, as Razek pointed out in his letter, she was in North Carolina filming the movie adaptation of John Green’s novel, Paper Towns.
“I quite understandably couldn’t accommodate your absence,” he noted.
Razek finished the letter by complimenting Delevingne’s modeling skills, “you would have made the show better, as you do anything and everything you’re involved in.” He even extended an invite for her to join the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Nov. 30 on Paris.
“As always, we’d love to have you. No casting necessary!” he added.
While Delevingne became an “it” girl for the past few years due to her modeling career and social media presence, she has made known it that she left modeling behind for acting because it made her “feel a bit hollow” and have body image issues, as noted by People.
“I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on the edge. It’s a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”
Delevingne has also been making rumors swirl with actress Dakota Johnson. Reports surfaced that the two are dating after they were spotted getting cozy. According to a report via Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the two were supposedly fixed up via Delevingne’s friend Taylor Swift. The two have been getting cozy after they were seen hanging out with Swift’s group of friends, which includes Delevingne.
Reports claimed that the British model needed some comfort after seeing her ex-girlfriend St. Vincent move on with Kristen Stewart. Earlier this year, Johnson ended her relationship with Matthew Hitt and was previously rumored to have dated Fifty Shades co-star Rita Ora.
Gossip Cop has since debunked the rumor that Delevingne and Johnson are dating. The outlet checked in with an inside source close to Johnson, who has supposedly assured them that there is nothing going on between Johnson and Delevingne, and the two actresses are “just friends.” Delevingne, who was outspoken about her relationship with St. Vincent, has kept mum on these rumors. But it looks like their reps are trying to get to the bottom of these dating reports.
