Adam Levine Reveals How He And Wife Behati Prinsloo Chose The Name Dusty Rose For Their Baby Girl

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo welcomed their first child, daughter Dusty Rose in September and earlier this week, Levine opened up about the baby’s name while chatting with talk show host Ellen Degeneres.

Amid the 11th season of The Voice, which recently aired its knockout episodes, Adam Levine appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show where he revealed that he and Prinsloo had help choosing the name for their baby girl from Degeneres herself.

“She has a great name,” Degeneres said during the show, according to a report by Hollywood Life on November 3.

“Shall I do the honors of telling them?” Adam Levine responded.

According to Adam Levine, he and Prinsloo had selected a name which he didn’t reveal, but when he ran the idea past Degeneres, she blatantly told him that she was not a fan of the name. In turn, she offered the Maroon 5 rocker a series of other names to pick from — and Dusty was one of those names.

“I texted Ellen, like, ‘What do you think of this name?’ And she’s like ‘I hate it. I think it’s a terrible name.’ I was like, ‘Cool, okay…’ She gave me like five names to think about. This, this, this, this…and Dusty was in there. You basically named my kid,” Adam Levine admitted.

Although Adam Levine was a fan of the name right away, his model wife wasn’t convinced that Dusty was right for their child. In fact, she told Adam Levine she didn’t like the name until the very last minute when he presented her with the idea for a second time.

“I ran it by my wife and she’s like, ‘Eh, no, I don’t like it.’ And I brought it back to her in the 11th hour and I’m like, ‘Dusty’s pretty cool…’ and she’s like ‘I love it!'” Adam Levine revealed.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo got married in July 2014 after dating on and off for about two years and on September 21, Dusty Rose was born in Los Angeles. Before Dusty’s birth, Prinsloo had been living full-time in New York City, but after discovering her pregnancy, she and Levine sold their New York City home and moved into a new home in Los Angeles, where Levine is currently filming new episodes of The Voice.

Continuing with the interview, Degeneres said that “Rose,” Dusty’s middle name, was a “beautiful color as well.”

“I’d already thought of Dusty, and then somebody said ‘Dusty Rose,’ and I said, ‘Oh, that’s her name.’ And so I texted you, ‘Dusty Rose,'” Degeneres recalled.

“[Adam Levine] sends me pictures of her. She is adorable,” Degeneres revealed. “If a day goes by, I’m like, ‘Where is the baby? I’m jonesing for a baby picture.'”

Weeks ago, just a short time after Adam Levine’s first child was born, the singer’s Voice co-star, Gwen Stefani, appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show, where she confirmed the birth and revealed she and Levine had been FaceTiming so that she could see Dusty Rose in action.

Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani starred alongside one another in The Voice Season 7 and The Voice Season 9 and will soon reunite to film The Voice Season 12. Also, the two singers have established a close friendship off-set due to Levine’s closeness with Stefani’s boyfriend, Blake Shelton, who, like Levine, has been with the NBC series since it began years ago.
