According to NME, it was back in July that Netflix first announced the Gilmore Girls reboot. Since then, fans have been dying for a trailer to sink their teeth into while they wait for the release on November 25. Gilmore Girls was originally created by Amy Sherman-Palladino. Amy returned to produce, write, and direct Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life along with Daniel Palladino.

While most of the cast that fans grew to love will be making some sort of appearance in the series reboot, Edward Herrmann, who played Lorelai’s father, Richard Gilmore, passed away in 2014. While he can’t physically be in the reboot, the trailer reveals that the reboot will do an incredible job of honoring his memory. For example, the new Gilmore Girls trailer features a massive oil painting of Richard in the family home.

“It’s safe to say that the death of Richard Gilmore, the death of Ed Herrmann, looms large over everything,” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said.

“Dealing with the death of Richard is going to impact all of them, because when somebody close to you dies your whole life comes into a weird focus for a minute. Like, what direction am I walking [in]?”

While the death of Edward Herrmann left a huge void in the hearts of fan of the show, the trailer suggests Amy has done an incredible job honoring his memory throughout the reboot.

Four Seasons. Four Stories.

The official trailer of the Gilmore Girls’ reboot reveals that four stories set in four different seasons – winter, summer, spring, and fall – will take place in the four 90 minute episodes.

Emily Gilmore In Mourning?

Most would agree it is a little uncomfortable to see Emily Gilmore wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans. Perhaps this is her way of mourning the death of Richard. “I was married for 50 years. Half of me is gone,” she said in the trailer.

All Three Gilmore Girls Appear Lost

It would appear as if all three generations of Gilmore Girls are feeling a sense of loss and restlessness. Lorelai has always been a little lost and restless throughout the series, but fans of Gilmore Girls are not used to seeing Emily and Rory also feel this way.

Yes, Lorelai Is With Luke

It is confirmed that Lorelai is in a relationship with Luke, but she doesn’t seem sure of whether or not she and Luke are in a happy relationship together. Could there be trouble in paradise?

Yes, All Of Rory’s Lovers Are Back

Whether you were team Dean, team Jess, or team Logan, you will be happy to know all three are making some sort of appearance in the short reboot of Gilmore Girls. In fact, all three have brief cameos in the trailer if you happened to be playing close attention.

Other People Are Back Too

Sookie, Paris, Lane, Kirk, and Michel will all be making appearances in the Gilmore Girls reboot as they all had brief cameos in the trailer as well.

Lastly, why are Lorelai and Rory sharing cups of coffee at Al’s instead of Luke’s during the winter scene in the trailer? Are Lorelai and Luke fighting? Did he close Luke’s that day? Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until November 25 to find out!
