Naomie Harris Says Daniel Craig Covered For Her On Bond Set Like A Gentleman Boss

Naomie Harris kicked total ass as katana-wielding pharmacist Selena in 28 Days Later (even out badassing fellow lead Cillian Murphy as a zombie-killing machine), and the British actress is back opposite Daniel Craig in the new Bond flick Skyfall.

In the interim, Naomie Harris has starred in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End and Miami Vice, but Skyfall is a big role for her and a big exposure to American audiences.

Luckily for Harris, Craig has been a great guide as she makes her first entry into the Bond films and learns the ropes. And Naomie says there’s a learning curve, and a lot of pressure to get it right.

Harris explains that Craig looked out for her during filming, saying:

“It was all quite nerve-wracking, but he was very reassuring. It was great to have someone be like, ‘We’re just going to do this together, it’s going to be OK, and if you don’t get it right, we’ll do it again.'”

Naomie adds:

“Sometimes I’d mess up and he’d say things like, ‘No, it was me’ and take the blame.”

In the interview with InStyle, Naomie Harris seems to indicate a bit of insecurity about her big-deal Bond role — and the actress explains keeping the secret was definitely stressful. She recalls:

”I was cast three months before the announcement. I was scared that if it leaked, I’d have the part taken from me. Everybody kept saying to me, ‘It’s really big, you’re part of a big machine.’ To be honest, I didn’t believe anyone, because I’d been part of Pirates and I thought, ‘Well, I’ve experienced that’. But Bond is a whole other level of attention and press scrutiny.”
