Scottie Pippen and wife, Larsa Pippen, have each filed for divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage.
Scottie Pippen's wife issued a statement, via her representative today, as reported by Gossip Cop.
"After careful consideration and 19 years together, Larsa and Scottie have each filed for dissolution of their marriage. Although they are no longer to be married, Larsa remains hopeful that she and Scottie will always do what is best for their 4 beautiful children and jointly raise them with love and respect. She would like to thank everyone for their understanding and kindly ask for privacy from the media during this difficult time of transition for her family."Scottie, 51, and Larsa, 41, have four children together -- Scottie, Jr., Justin, Sophia, and Preston.
Scottie filed for divorce in Floria earlier this week.
Scottie Pippen's wife achieved stardom when she was included in the main cast for the first season of Real Housewives of Miami. With Mrs. Pippen being one of Kim Kardashian's best friends (she is a member of Kim's squad), she, Scottie, and their four children made numerous appearances in Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
"Larsa Pippen is one of my best friends! I love spending time with her. She gives great advice and our kids are always having playdates. Nobody makes me laugh like Larsa does. She's the kind of best friend you can tell anything to and will always have your back," Kim wrote of Larsa.
It is unclear why the pair have decided to end to their relationship.
Everybody was taken by surprise by the split since nothing seemed amiss between the pair in the last few months. Scottie and Larsa, along with their children, even attended the New York Fashion event for kids in September to support their 7-year-old daughter Sophia, who modeled for the show. Photos taken during the event show Scottie and wife Larsa were still wearing their wedding rings.A few days ago, Larsa tweeted a photo of herself and the Pippen kids, using the hashtag #teampippen. Pippen and wife Larsa looked happy and in love in the latter's Instagram photo posted just nearly two months ago.
"Love is in the air," Larsa wrote. And three months ago, Scottie sent his wife a special message on their anniversary.
"Happy anniversary baby! Loved you from day one," Pippen wrote.
Speaking of Instagram, Mrs. Pippen still identifies herself as an "NBA wife" in her bio.
The divorce is not without its controversies, as rumors have started flying around suggesting that rapper Future caused Scottie and Larsa's divorce.
The rumors started when Scottie Pippen's wife was spotted hanging out with Future in Miami, as reported by TMZ.
Sources close to Larsa, however, debunked the rumors, saying that while she and Future have been friends for a long time, the relationship between them remains platonic. Future's representatives echoed the statement, explaining that the rapper has never been interested in dating a married woman.
Sources also claim that the split may have come about because Scottie has been doing a lot of traveling for business lately, and Larsa felt disconnected from his husband as a result. A confrontation may have occurred, forcing them to come to a decision to end the marriage.
Larsa is Scottie's second wife. He was wed to Karen McCollum in 1988 and was divorced two years later. They had a son named Antron.
Pippen also has two kids from other relationships.
Larsa is a Chicago native, and earned a degree in political science from the University of Illinois. A former student of the Piven Theater Workshop, Mrs. Pippen has written numerous fashion and fitness articles.
