Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 15, Refuses To See Father Brad Pitt At Emotional Reunion

Many of the Jolie-Pitt children have not been named as specifically having problems with either of their parents, but their oldest son, Maddox, who is mentioned time and again in the chain of events that led up to Angelina filing for divorce from Brad Pitt, refused to see Brad during the reunion he had with his children after not being able to see them for 19 days. The reunion took place in one of the homes that Brad and Angelina had shared with the children, with a therapist present to monitor the interaction. It was awkward at best, says a source close to Brad Pitt, according to Us.

Maddox was adopted by Angelina Jolie two years before she ever got together with Brad Pitt. He was adopted by Angelina from Cambodia as an infant and shared those two years with her as her only child. Although before the difficult divorce situation thus far, Maddox was not known to have problems with his father, a source says that he views himself as Angelina’s son, not Brad’s.

“Maddox is very close with Angie. He doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son.”

Although Brad legally adopted Maddox, thus Maddox taking on the surname Jolie-Pitt, as all of the children have, some sources say he has always favored his mother. Other sources close to Jolie deny that Maddox has made up his mind about custody, but one source says that if Angelina is done with Brad Pitt, Maddox is too. One source is much more to the point.

“Maddox never wants to see Brad again.”

Whether that is true is not confirmed, but what is generally accepted as truth is that Maddox and Brad argued on a private flight on September 14, although the details of the fight remain sketchy. Reports say that Jolie and Pitt were arguing and that Pitt had been drinking. Sources originally said the DCFS got involved because of a report that Pitt struck Maddox, who was attempting to take up for Angelina, but a source says that Maddox was never harmed, according to People.

“…a combination of exaggerations and lies. They have taken the overall smallest kernel of truth — that a fight got out of hand and reached a regrettable peak, and that as a result DCFS is looking into it — and they are manipulating it to best suit their attempts to gain custody.”

When Jolie filed for divorce five days later, multiple agencies got involved, and both parents agreed to the court’s advice that the children should receive counseling sessions before seeing Brad Pitt again, which all attended, including Maddox. After not seeing his children for 19 days, it was an emotional reunion, but Us described it as strained, and that Pitt was “crushed” that Maddox did not want to see him and stayed with Angelina during the visit. Even though it appears likely that there will be a joint custody situation, Maddox still does not have to see Brad if he doesn’t wish to, because, like many states, California’s law states that a child may choose which parent they want to reside with/visit with once they are 14-years-old, according to Us.

Pitt saw his other five children on Sunday, October 8, which include Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne. Although the date of the next visitation has not been publicly released, that doesn’t mean one is not being planned. Pitt has been proceeding carefully to preserve his relationship with his children, a source close to Pitt says. Sources close to Angelina Jolie say that she does want the children to have a relationship with their father, but only “once their health and safety has been assured.”
