Lindsay Lohan was photographed carrying around a Quran, and has said she has a keen interest in the culture, says Emirates Woman. This combined with her visits to the refugee camps, with a scarf over her head has prompted renewed interest in whether or not she is interested in converting. She claims there has been backlash against her interest stateside.
“My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning. It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”
She believes that the reaction to her carrying the Quran was negative in America.
“They crucified me for it in America,” she said. “They made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran. I was so happy to leave [America] and go back to London after that, because I felt so unsafe in my own country. If this [Islam] is something that I want to learn, this is my own will.“
Though the verbiage did not sound like Lohan, she seems to have positioned herself as a spokeswoman for Muslim causes and refugees. She says she can’t imagine what it must feel like to have people treating you like an outsider all the time.
