Nancy O’Dell Is Still Waiting: Billy Bush Has Yet To Issue Personal Apology To His Former Co-Host

Nancy O’Dell is still waiting for Billy Bush to issue her a personal apology for his part in the Donald Trump tape that was released last week. She was hurt by the “locker room banter” and is reportedly unhappy that Bush hasn’t reached out to her with a sincere apology.

Billy Bush apologized publicly for bantering with Donald Trump in a 2005 tape in which Trump talked about wanting to sleep with Nancy O’Dell. At the time, Bush and O’Dell were co-hosts of Access Hollywood. Trump openly confided in Bush about how he tried to seduce the married O’Dell and took her furniture shopping, and he made other unsavory remarks as well. Bush went along with the conversation, and at one point, he commented to Trump that his claims were “big news.” Neither one of them had any idea they were being recorded during the footage.

Billy Bush issued a public apology on Sunday.

“Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”

An insider close to the situation tells Radar Online that Nancy O’Dell is “really, really upset” that her former co-worker and friend said he’s sorry to the world, but not to her privately.

On Monday, the Entertainment Tonight host said she there was “no room for the objectification of women, or anyone for that matter — not even in the locker room!”

The source adds that Billy Bush was going to apologize to Nancy O’Dell, but his plan was crushed.

“Bush was going to apologize to Nancy on-air on the Today Show Monday but since he was suspended, he did not get to do it!”

The insider said despite NBC yanking Bush off the air, those close to O’Dell were hoping that he’d still extend a personal apology to her. The source continues that it was difficult for Nancy O’Dell to learn that someone she worked side-by-side with and trusted would engage in that type of conversation about her.

“Nancy and Billy were tight at one time. What hurt the most for her is that when he made the comments [back in 2005] they were really close friends.”

Although Billy wasn’t saying anything especially derogatory about Nancy, his participation of the banter with Trump and not supporting her is what rubs people the wrong way.

Nancy O’Dell released her first statement on Saturday, a day after the Trump tape was released.

“When I heard the comments yesterday, it was disappointing to hear such objectification of women. The conversation needs to change because no female, no person, should be the subject of such crass comments, whether or not cameras are rolling. Everyone deserves respect no matter the setting or gender. As a woman who has worked very hard to establish her career, and as a mom, I feel I must speak out with the hope that as a society we will always strive to be better.”

Donald Trump has given a half-hearted apology to the nation in the midst of the presidential race. He began that the sexually explicit comments he made about the women on the tape amounted to “locker room talk” and nothing more.

The other woman objectified on the 2005 tape was daytime actress Arianne Zucker. She was meeting Trump and Billy Bush outside the bus after they arrived at the NBC studio. Trump was going to shoot a scene for Days of Our Lives. Bush did a fair amount of bantering about Zucker’s looks in the second half of the tape.

Will Billy Bush apologize to Nancy O’Dell before it’s too late?
