Why Jana Duggar’s Single Status is A Blessing For One Member Of Her Family

Jana Duggar’s sister-in-law, Anna Duggar, seems to be “counting on” keeping her single. At age 26, Jana is the oldest daughter in the Duggar clan, but she remains unmarried and has never even courted. And on the most recent episode of the Duggar family’s spin-off show, Counting On, Jana Duggar’s sister-in-law revealed that she selfishly hopes that Jana stays single—at least for now.

As Anna continues to weather the aftermath of her husband Josh’s cheating scandal, she says Jana has been the person that she has leaned on the most.

According to Us Weekly, Josh Duggar’s wife admitted that Jana has been her go-to person in the family ever since her husband’s scandal broke last year.

“Jana has been such an encouragement and such a rock this past year of my life,” Anna said on Counting On. “She will make an amazing wife one day, but selfishly right now, I’m so thankful I’ve had her as a shoulder to cry on, someone to just laugh with, cry with, pray with,” she said. “She’s such a treasure.”

Indeed, while Jana’s younger sisters Jill and Jessa are now married with babies, and sibling Jinger recently became engaged, Jana is the Duggar sister that mom of four Anna turns to.

Still, many fans wonder why Jana hasn’t found a husband of her own yet. On a Counting On episode earlier this year, Jana revealed that she does think about love and marriage, but that she’s still not sure if it will fit into her life plan in the next five years.

“I don’t really know what the next five years look like,” Jana admitted to TLC’s cameras.

“I guess in some ways, you have hopes and dreams of maybe, y’know, ‘I’ll meet the one and get married and have kids and stuff,’… it’s not like there haven’t been interested suitors. There have been different guys come along and ask, but they haven’t been the right one. I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along.”

Still, Jana added that sometimes she does think about what it would be like to be married and a mother.

“I mean sometimes it can be tempting, ‘Oh, I really want to be married,’ because in those moments your siblings that are married and have little ones are going on dates and doing their thing.”

Earlier this year, Duggar parents Jim Bob and Michelle teased that Jana’s twin, John David, and two of their younger sons, Joseph and Josiah, could be pursuing courtships in the near future, meaning even more of Jana’s siblings could be getting married before she does.

While Jana remains single, Jim Bob Duggar previously told People that there has been plenty of interest in his oldest daughter, but she has been hesitant to take that next step with any of her wannabe suitors.

“There have been a lot of guys who have been interested in her,” the Duggar patriarch said. “I have gone to hear about each one, and so far she hasn’t felt that is the way the Lord is leading.”

While three of his nine daughters have found their soulmates, Jim Bob Duggar says he has never tried to arrange a marriage for any of his girls.

“Over the years, I have suggested guys to my daughters or we have had a lot of guys that approach us and are interested in this girl or that girl, but each of our girls have chosen their spouse on their own,” Duggar said.

Turns out Jana is just super picky, and for now, that suits her sister-in-law Anna just fine in her own time of need.
