WWE Rumors: What We Know About The ‘Survivor Series’ So Far

There are quite a few WWE rumors surrounding the upcoming Survivor Series, the Pay-Per-View event taking place next month, so let’s get right down to it to see who’s doing what, when, where, how, and why.

First, and foremost, let’s address the latest WWE rumors about the Survivor Series put forth by Yibada, who are suggesting that The Shield will be reuniting at the event. According to their WWE rumors report, because all of the members are now baby-faces, this seems like as good a time as any to reunite the beloved Shield. But why wait for the Survivor Series to do so?

The answer is simple, the three fighters are on two different brands. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are on Raw, whereas Dean Ambrose is on SmackDown. This means that the only way The Shield can reunite is on a show that features both brands. The last time we saw a potential Shield reunion, the three fighters power-bombed Randy Orton at Payback. So the question begs itself, who will these fighters face off against, if indeed they do reunite, and for what purpose? Right now, only Reigns is on a championship run, the other two are sorely lacking.

Meanwhile, according to the WWE rumors report put forth by What Culture, there are quite a few different options for a main event at the Survivor Series. One of the fights that they suggest will happen is a fight between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the WWE Universal Championship belt. The two fighters, who, incidentally, are friends in real life, have been going at it since their NXT days, and it should be interesting to see their fight take place again after all this time, especially for a championship belt.

Of course, another potential main event fight is the one between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns for the same title. Now, this seems a bit more likely, especially since Roman Reigns is already on a championship run, and his rivalry with Kevin Owens is well documented (and, unlike Sami Zayn, Roman and Kevin aren’t friends in real life, so there’s a real rivalry there). When you add the fact that Reigns had an opportunity to win the belt stolen away from him just prior to the Clash of Champions (and the United States Championship belt is just a small, hollow consolation prize), it makes sense that Reigns would want revenge.

Finally, but certainly no less importantly, there are the WWE rumors about Goldberg’s return to the ring, and it seems all but confirmed that he’ll be facing off against Brock Lesnar.

That’s, of course, according to the latest reports by Bleacher Report, whose latest round of WWE rumors suggest that the elder statesman will be facing off against the same guy that bloodied Randy Orton in the ring (no, we won’t let him forget it any time soon). Goldberg, himself, all but confirmed these rumors on his Twitter, when he promised to address the situation himself next week.

“Booking my flight to answer that big mouth @HeymanHustle ‘s challenge next week in person on #MondayNightRaw #WhosNext? #seeyathere @WWE”

While Bleacher Report suggests that this means he’ll only be appearing on the October 17 episode of Monday Night Raw, this also suggests that there could be something bigger at work here, namely, that he’s setting the stage for his return to the ring to face off against Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series.

The last time Goldberg fought in the ring was in 2004, at the WrestleMania XX event, against who else? Brock Lesnar. That fight was roundly criticized, and for good reason, so it makes sense that Goldberg will want to settle the score. It’s been a long time coming, anyway.
