‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Oct. 7, Thagomizers And Shinobu’s Vow Debut
The visit by Xûr to the Destiny Tower for the weekend of Friday, October 7 comes with a couple of new additions to the inventory. The Rise of Iron Exotic armor pieces Thagomizers and Shinobu’s Vow are on sale for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners for the very first time.
As a reminder, the Light levels of all armor and weapons has been increased to 350 with the exception of the Legacy Engram. That provides a suitable option for those with the Strange Coins to spend to increase their Light level quickly. Additionally, Ornaments are sold using the new Silver Dust currency. That can be obtained from Radiant Treasure, which guarantees at least one Silver Dust, and/or by dismantling Ornaments.
Xûr can be found just outside of the Speaker’s building next to the railing overlooking the city this weekend. Turn left as soon as you spawn in the Tower and run straight to the north part of the social space. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map.
Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, October 9. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.
Thunderlord
Thunderlord is a beast of a machine gun in Destiny PVE scenarios thanks to its high stability, large clip, and perks. It’s a go-to weapon in Nightfall and Weekly Heroic Strikes that use Arc burn, and it comes with a hidden perk that occasionally causes enemies to explode with Arc damage on kills. It’s also a solid weapon to use in Crucible due to the high impact rounds, and it is still very viable since the release of Rise of Iron.
Thagomizers
Thagomizers are the new Striker Titans-specific Gauntlets added with Destiny:Rise of Iron. The “One-Two Punch” intrinsic perk grants an additional melee charge plus the “Amplify” sub-class perk by default, which gives Strikers an extra Storm First punch plus faster regeneration of the Fist of Havoc super ability. This can work well in both PVP and PVE activities. Meanwhile, the optional perks in the third column are “Rain Blows” for increased melee attack speed or “Momentum Transfer” for bonus melee energy on grenade hits. The fourth column perks offer a choice between faster Auto Rifle or Sniper Rifle reloading.
The pure 82 Intellect stat is actually quite bad for the Thagomizers. Consider re-rolling using Glass Needles to get something higher and/or to get the stat split and reload perks of your preference.
Shinobou’s Vow
Bladedancer Hunters who love Skip Grenades will love the Shinobu’s Vow Exotic Gauntlets. The “New Tricks” intrinsic perk gives and additional Skip Grenade charge and lets Skip Grenades bounce even further off walls and floors when thrown. It also appears to increase the tracking radius of the Skip Grenades, making them even more deadly.
The third column random perk rolls include “Fastball” for increased grenade throw distance and “Impact Induction” for bonus grenade energy on melee hits. The fourth column optional perks offer a choice between faster Auto Rifle or Machine Gun reloading.
The pure 88 Discipline stat roll is in the right place for these Destiny Exotic Gauntlets and just six points off the match. Consider re-rolling only if your Hunter needs different stats or optional perks.
Light Beyond Nemesis
This helmet helped turn Warlocks into orb-generating machines in Destiny Year One. The Year Two versions continue producing extra orbs with the “Keeper of the Pack” perk, but not as many overall. It still excels in helping players revive teammates faster in PVP modes such as Elimination and Trials of Osiris.
The random optional perks include the choice between bonus Super energy from melee kills or Heavy Weapon kills in PVE. Meanwhile, the “Better Already” perk starts shield recovery immediately after picking up Orbs of Light.
The 98 Intellect roll is excellent, 8 points off the max. Destiny Warlocks should pick this up if they need a boost since the release of Destiny: Rise of Iron. Perks to target when using Glass Needles include “Inverse Shadow” in the third column and “Infusion” for the fourth column.
