‘RHOBH’ Dorit Kemsley’s Husband’s Prior Debt Problems Leaked Ahead Of Season 7 Premiere

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7 hasn’t premiered yet, but there’s already something from one of the newest cast member’s past that has surfaced. Dorit Kemsley might have known it was bound to happen.

There’s nothing like a reality show about the rich and famous to bring out one’s hard times from way back when. As anyone who’s ever appeared on the Real Housewives franchise knows, whatever dirt that exists in their history will eventually be made public.

According to a new report, Dorit Kemsley’s husband, Paul Kemsley, struggled financially after the real estate crash in 2008. Radaronline reports that Paul filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy in 2012. He claimed to be $10 million to $50 million in debt. Paul Kemsley claimed to have only $1 million to $10 million in assets at the time. The British businessman was involved in a foreign bankruptcy case as well. He lived in Florida, but claimed his main assets and creditors were in England. For this reason, he requested a foreign proceeding. Dorit Kemsley’s husband said his three children, who were then between the ages of 10 and 16 at the time, depended on him financially. He supposedly only had around $104 in cash and $1,000 in their bank account. Radar reveals that Paul and his ex-wife were separated at the time as well. Paul said she was paying for everything because he had no income. His monthly expense sheet totaled $34,000.

It was believed that Dorit was Paul Kemsley’s girlfriend during this time because papers revealed he had a New York-based girlfriend. When news came out that Dorit Kemsley was going to be on Season 7 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it was revealed that she met her husband in New York. She Knows reports that the two married in a lavish wedding ceremony in New York in March 2015.

When the recession hit in 2008, Paul Kemsley’s real estate group, Rock, failed. He had to borrow from friends and family to pay off creditors. He was the Vice President of Planet Hollywood, earning $7,800 per month, and had other business ventures as well.

Kemsley’s petition for recognition in 2013 by the United States Bankruptcy Court Southern District of New York was denied. Two months later he was denied again when he put in for another request.

A rep for Paul Kemsley told Radaronline that the businessman has “reestablished” himself in business.

“Much like many other businessmen Paul Kemsley was affected by the credit crunch of 2008-2009, but he hasn’t let it hold him back. Kemsley has found new love with his wife Dorit, a reignited passion for business and he’s reestablished himself. He hopes that people will take inspiration from his journey, after all it’s not about how you got knocked down it’s about how quickly you got back up,” the rep said.

Will any of these problems come up in Season 7 of RHOBH? It would depend on how particular someone is about getting Dorit Kemsley’s background on the show. Sometimes cast members are scrutinized for their past when it comes to business, affairs, or other matters they’d rather forget.

Paul and Dorit Kemsley have two children — Jagger, 2, and baby Phoenix. Paul Kemsley is a successful property developer, businessman, and is pop star Boy George’s manager.

Dorit Kemsley is good friends with longtime RHOBH cast member, Lisa Vanderpump. It remains to be seen what Dorit’s dynamic within the cast is going to be just yet. The swimwear designer will presumably have a bond with Lisa in Season 7, but friendships and trust have a way of shifting in these shows.

In addition to Dorit Kemsley, Eden Sassoon will also be added to the RHOBH cast.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7 will premiere in late fall.
