WWE News: Roman Reigns Says Suspension Was ‘The Best Thing To Happen To Me’

While much ado has been made in the WWE news reports about Roman Reigns’ past 30 day suspension — the suspension which many commentators feel was the turning point, for the worst, in his career — the United States Champion actually feels the opposite. In fact, in the latest WWE news reports, Roman Reigns says that his suspension was the best thing to ever happen to him!

That’s according to The Sun, who recently released this shocking bit of WWE news when they interviewed the former Shield member. Though many wrestling fans seemed concerned with the fact that Reigns — who is The Rock’s cousin and a member of the Anoa’i family of wrestlers — was being “fast-tracked” to superstardom thanks to his pedigree, Reigns insists that his rise to the top is completely organic, and his suspension was exactly what was needed to get his head back in the game.

“I have experienced some of the greatest things I have ever done in my career with Wrestlemania and the WWE Championship. I have had some lows and I have had that time to reset, not necessarily humble myself but get back in the shop and re-evaluate things and see what I am fighting for. You have to do what you have to do to compete every week but it is not easy. I am proud to say I kept my head down, I grinded it out and I lasted through the tough times and now I am back on top of that mountain.”

In other WWE news about Roman Reigns, Forbes Magazine is reporting that the newly minted United States Champion is still considering the run for the Universal title belt. Even though some wrestling commentators believe that his win of the United States Championship is a “demotion,” the reality is, he’s not only wearing a belt worn by Seth Rollins and John Cena, he also defeated one of the top heels in the WWE to do it.

But don’t expect Reigns to make a run for the Universal Championship until the Royal Rumble rolls around. In fact, the company still has to figure out if Reigns should turn heel, or if he should continue his baby-face run while enjoying his newly-acquired title. He’s now earned his way to a main event promotion, as opposed to languishing in mid-card hell, so he’ll need all the time he can get in order to obtain the necessary sponsorship and other endorsements needed to make the most of his United States Championship.

And that’s not the only good WWE news coming from the Roman Reigns camp. According to the International Business Times UK, we may just see a Shield reunion in time for the Royal Rumble!

According to the outlet, this reunion would have to be at an event that features all of the wrestling brands together, as Dean Ambrose is on SmackDown, while Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns are on Raw. And while the Survivor Series is also an option for a Shield reunion, the WWE feels it’s more advantageous, from a ratings perspective, to wait until the Royal Rumble.

Reigns said that the Shield would always have a special place in his heart, but he was proud of his fellow Shield members for succeeding on their own as well.

“What makes The Shield different is we all broke out and were able to maintain the level of success that we had within the group but now we are doing it as individuals. It’s really nice to be the quarterback out there. You don’t always have to worry and coordinate with everybody else.”
