Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Settling Children Custody Issues Soon, But There’s A ‘But’

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are working towards settling their custody issues. But it won’t be easy as there are a few snags that still need to be resolved between them.

There’s no doubt that it will be in the best interests of both Pitt and Jolie to avoid a contentious court battle, which is why settlement discussions between them may well be in the offing.

On Friday, TMZ revealed some details on what went down with the Brangelina settlement discussions, which involve negotiations over the custody and visitation of the six children, temporary support for Jolie and the kids, permanent financial support, and division of property.

TMZ’s source reveals that there won’t be any conflict between Brad and Angelina in regards to custody, visitation, and temporary support. But discussions between Pitt and Jolie involving permanent financial support and property division may become more complicated since they partly depend on the future recommendations of the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services, who are still investigating the child abuse charges filed against Pitt by Jolie.

According to sources, the Fury actor and the humanitarian wanted to end the divorce proceedings quickly to avoid unwanted complications that usually accompany celebrity separations.

As expected, Brad Pitt was devastated when Angelina Jolie filed for sole physical custody of their six kids. Then, Pitt got even more upset when the incident on the plane hit the headlines. Believing that it was Angelina Jolie’s friends who leaked the story, Brad pulled the plug on the negotiations.

Brad, realizing that this was not the smart thing to do, reportedly reconsidered and chose to keep the negotiations with Angelina in play. In fact, Perez Hilton reports that an agreement in regards to custody/visitation and temporary support may be close to being resolved.

Angelina Jolie, who is bent on resolving the divorce with as little scandal as possible, recently hired popular crisis manager Judy Smith. Jolie’s decision to hire her is actually interesting on account of the fact that Jody was the person who inspired Washington’s character Olivia Pope on Scandal.

“She is typically a calming non-combative influence,” a source told E! Online. “Certainly seems like someone to give better advice than what she has been apparently been getting.”

“Judy has been asked to consult with those working with Angelina on divorce negotiations,” a source told PEOPLE. “Judy and her firm have a long history of handling issues that have unfortunately garnered too much attention in the public eye, and she knows how to push towards resolutions that are swift and discreet.”

With Smith now a part of Angelina Jolie’s legal team, in addition to celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, the actress certainly has it made on the legal front.

As for Pitt, the actor recently added his family law attorney Lance Spiegel to his legal team.

Sources close to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie told TMZ that the couple had a screaming argument on a private jet en route from England to the US last Wednesday. Brad was reportedly wasted at the time, and the argument escalated until it resulted to a confrontation with the kids.

The plane was said to have landed at an airport around 8 pm, and witnesses claim that Brad went on with his tirade while on the tarmac and even attempted to leave in one of the fuel trucks.

Sources say that the incident on the plane and at the airport convinced Jolie to separate from Brad the next day and to file for divorce days later.

Do you think Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s settlement negotiations may be coming to an end? If so, who do you think will get the short end of the stick?
