‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 May Show Us Rhaegar Targaryen

Game of Thrones sadly has only two seasons left on HBO. And those two will be shorter than previous ones. And at least Season 7 will be released later than usual, probably not until next summer. But filming has begun, and fans eagerly await any piece of news or possible hint of what’s to come. Well recently, a potentially bit Game of Thrones piece of news was released. We may actually get a scene that shows us Rhaegar Tagaryen in Season 7.

Rhaegar plays a huge role in Game of Thrones, yet we have never seen him. Given the Tower of Joy scene that we saw last season, we’re 99 percent sure that the R+L=J theory is true and that Rhaegar fathered Jon Snow with Lyanna Stark. The older brother of Daenerys and Viserys Targaryen, legends surround him, but we don’t know the truth. At least not yet. The legend that so many fans want the 4-1-1 on is that he raped Ned Stark’s sister Lyanna. If that is true, then Jon Snow is a child of rape. An alternate, but unspoken, theory ever since Season 1 of Game of Thrones is that the two were in love, and Jon Snow is the result of their true love.

The Instagram post above triggered the rumors that we may see Rhaegar next season and that Devin Oliver will play him. Here’s another photo of Devin Oliver.

You have to admit, he looks the part. He has the very blonde Targaryen hair and facial structure that is similar to that of Viserys, shown below with Dany.

Another fact that makes this rumor not so far fetched is that Rhaegar reportedly liked to sing, and Devin Oliver is a singer. He’s in a band known as I See Stars. It’s said in Game of Thrones lore that Dany’s older brother once sang a song to Lyanna at Harrenhall that brought tears to her eyes. What a scene that would make in Season 7. Then again, Oliver could be having a little fun with fans.

Either way, it seems like Game of Thrones will have to completely connect the dots about Rhaegar before it wraps the final episode. There are at least two story elements that could be included. The lesser known is that Rhaegar’s father, the Mad King Aerys Targaryen, wanted him to marry Cersei, but Cersei’s father, Tywin, refused, saying the king’s son was beneath her and refused. Of course, Cersei probably didn’t mind because she was in love with her twin brother, Jaime, who of course had a connection to the Game of Thrones legendary Mad King. Jaime earned his name, Kingslayer, when he killed the Mad King.

Then there is the question as to whether or not this mysterious Game of Thrones character is Jon Snow’s real father. The truth about Jon’s parentage is crucial to the rest of the GOT story because it clarifies whether or not he is part Targaryen. If he is, it could change everything going forward.

If Jon Snow is part Targaryen, he has a legitimate claim to the Iron Throne and may be the ultimate winner of the Game of Thrones. And if he is part Targaryen, he may also be one-third of a theory known as the Three-Headed Dragon. This theory is discussed at length in many places, including Winter Is Coming. Each head of the dragon is believed to be Targaryen, with Dany (the Mother of Dragons) as one head and Snow as another (if he is part Targaryen). Who is the third? There are multiple theories, but the most popular says that, as explained by Pop Sugar, the third head in this Game of Thrones theory is Tyrion Lannister.
