‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 May Kill Off More Major Characters [Spoilers]

Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 may kill off one (or a few) major characters, according to E! Online. Ever since the first trailer for the upcoming season was released, fans became worried about Alex and DeLuca‘s fate on the show.

Alex, played by Justin Chambers on Grey’s Anatomy, attacking DeLuca, played by Giacomo Gianniotti, may not only ruin his career but also get him locked up. But that’s not the only concern of the ABC show’s fans, as DeLuca may actually not pull through.

When asked by E! Online at Buzzfeed’s Buzzies Pre-Emmy party in Los Angeles if fans of the show should be worried about DeLuca’s fate, the Grey’s Anatomy executive producer/director Debbie Allen simply said “Yes.”

Allen, who directed the last season’s episode, warned that DeLuca is in trouble, adding that Season 13 will pick up where the story left off last season. And according to Allen, the Grey’s Anatomy new season premieres would include “a hot opening” when it launched on September 22 on ABC.

“This season is really hot. I mean, we’re in season 13, but we’re like a brand new show. The storylines are more dynamic and exciting than ever.”

With the first episode of the current season out of the way, fans now have a better idea as to what the future might hold for Alex and DeLuca. According to Entertainment Weekly, DeLuca survived the attack but this is just the beginning of the trouble for Alex.

Having been warned that the first episode of Season 13 would “knock your socks off,” “take your breath away” and “make you want to keep watching,” Grey’s Anatomy fans were perhaps expecting something a little grittier than what the first episode ended up offering.

Then Allen was asked to sum up Grey’s Anatomy’s Season 13 in one word, and she said it’s going to be “dynamic.” Although some fans may agree that the last few seasons have been somewhat soapy, “dynamic” is exactly what this show needs to attract huge audiences next season.

But Alex beating up DeLuca wasn’t the only plot twist of the last season of the Shonda Rhimes’ hit ABC show, according to the International Business Times. Aside from that, April and Jackson were seen welcoming their baby girl into this world.

In Grey’s Anatomy Season 13, Alex will figure out why Jo rejected his marriage proposal, and that sad truth will make him feel betrayed. In fact, fans will finally meet Jo’s ex-husband and find out more about her past, which has influenced her decisions lately.

In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grey’s Anatomy’s executive producer Shonda Rhimes said she loves Jo for being “somebody who has reinvented herself.”

“I also love her as being somebody who has overcome a lot of really, really bad things to make something of her life. She’s a survivor.”

Rhimes added that the idea of Grey’s Anatomy is to show that Jo being a survivor threatens her relationship, saying that it’s “interesting” to watch how it progresses over time. What’s “problematic” though is the fact that Alex’s initial response was to beat somebody up, Rhimes added.

As for April and Jackson, in the new season of Grey’s Anatomy, the two will enjoy their time as new parents, and that baby girl might really have a positive effect on their relationship, Rhimes teased.

“Just because they couldn’t make it work doesn’t mean that they don’t still really care about each other.”

In fact, Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 will show how hard it is to be uncoupled and what it’s like seeing your ex go out on a date, and trying to justify that other person sabotaging that date “a little bit,” Rhimes said.
